Lately it's been hard to hold the bar with double overhands when deadlifting. I can lift it, just not hold it anymore. I don't want to use straps.

I tried mixed grip and it made it so much easier. However it also felt like it twists the body in a fucked up way and that it will fuck me up long term.

Yes or no?

Use hook grip. Or get used to mixed grip. You adjust and learn how to do it properly after a couple sessions.

Twist feeling? Lmao you need to check your form bro.
As for holding the bar start incorporating farmer walks and static holds. Alternate between heavy (10-15s) and moderate 30-60s
