I need your help /fit/
Whenever I bench or do BB rows, I feel my left shoulder shrugging a little, and it's starting to hurt my joint. I've deloaded about 30% to work on my form, but it's still happening. What should I do? OHP and pullups feel fine.

maybe your traps are over developed and over activating when doing your lifts?
if u do a lot of shrugs besides rows and deadlifts just let them go, traps are getting a lot of work indirectly.
over developed traps can also cause a shoulder impingement in the long run.
t. guy who got shoulder impingement cuz of over developed traps and chest

i bet you did upright rows
>>39428218
its probably due to mix grip back imbalance or shit posture all day
>sitting behind a desk with your left elbow up, right hand down on the mouse
all god damned day

Try greater lat activation and a wider grip. I forget what are some lat activation queues. I think 'bending the bar towards your feet' is one
If that doesnt work just do partials for a bit because im pretty sure the lock out full rom part of the bench is whats making your shit shrug.
For rows maybe a flatter back angle and elbows more to the side to lessen the affect of the trap shrug

I meant elbows more out* on rows too

OP here. I do have strong traps from doing a shitton of diddlys, farmers walks, and rows, besides having a manual job

I think that hit the nail. Aside from not sitting in a shitty position, are there any particular stretches that could help?
Here's some ass as a token of my gratitude
Oh and driving hard with your feet down and out into the ground on bench is always a good idea. Just gotta experiment with foot placement.

I use pretty close grips too. I'm gonna try widening it a bit. I usually do both pendlay and 30-ish degree rows, and make sure I'm always parallel to the floor. I don't think back angle makes much of a difference.

*Make sure I'm parallel during pendlays

the guy with the impingement, never touched upright rows

Strong traps don't cause impingement.
Internal rotation and anterior glumeral glide do.
