>>39421318
Unless you're in yurup, then it's 20kg.
And unless you go to an underground gym, where it's between 'fuck if I know' and 'the plates should be around 20kg, and I don't have any idea how much the rubber weights, some dude made it for me 6 years ago'.
>>39421318
If someone says they bench lmao1pl8, they bench 60 kg. If it's 2pl8, 100, 3pl8 140, etc.
A pl8 is 20kg but when someone says they can squat 4pl8, they don't mean 80 kg you dense fuck.
>>39421171
>a plate
45lb
>one plate
A 45lb plate on either side of a 45lb barbell, so 135lb. The number of plates when referring to 1pl8, 2pl8, 3pl8, etc is the number of plates on each end.
>>39421364
>4pl8
>they don't mean 80 kg
Because 4pl8 would be 160kg in that case.
Also wouldn't 2pl8 be barely over 80kg?
>>39421655
You're forgetting the 20kg barbell, anon.

1pl8
Means a 45pb plate on EACH side of the bar
1pl8 deadlift means you're lifting 135lbs
Idk kilograms because merica trumps
gusy
if 1 plate = 45 lbs = 20 kg
and 2.2 lbs = 1 kg
2.2 * 20 kg = 45 lbs
44 lbs = 45 lbs
44 - 44 lbs = 45 - 44 lbs
0 lbs = 1 lbs
0 * n lbs = n lbs
0 = n lbs
where n is your 1rm in pounds, then your 1 rm is actually no weight at all. reminder to always use plates labeled in kilograms.
>>39421171
i always though that 1pl8 meant maximum amount of olympic weight plate so 25 kg
>>39421205
God dammit Nessie get the hell out my thread
>>39421217
For kg:
(x)pl8 = 40x + 20 kg
For lb:
(x)pl8 = 90x + 45 lb
Eg 4pl8:
4pl8 = 40(4) + 20 kg
= 160 + 20 kg
= 180kg
>this fucking thread
Wow I wish I could just fucking destroy the United States of retarded measurements.
>>39426232
this isn't really necessary, it's easier to just remember 60kg, 100kg, 140kg and 180kg. nobody gets to 5pl8 or higher so you don't need to remember those.
1 plate is always 20kg or 44lb
>>39426249

1pl8 is 20 kgs but when you say you can 1pl8 you mean 1pl8 on each side so 40kgs. But 1pl8 is 20kg.
>>39425291
>reminder to always use plates labeled in kilograms.
I'm not into your communist bullshit.
Just say the weight in lbs or kg autismos, there is no reason to talk about plates. Yes it triggers me.
>>39426450
It saves people from having to convert lb/kg.
>>39425291

>>39421745

>>39421171
20kg
So let me get dis strait
Is it:
1 plate: 20kg(two 10 plates on each side)
Or
1 plate: 40kg(two 20 plates on each side)
If it's the latter I'm only benching lmao1.5pl8
>>39426529
1pl8 = one 20kg/45lbs plate on each side.
>>39426450
You get to the issues where people will do shit like count the bar or say they can lift 40 kilograms when what they really mean is 40 kgs on each side as in 80 kgs and so on.
It's the same standardization issue as in all things. The simplest way is
1pl8 = 45 lbs = 20 kilograms
To say you can squat 1pl8 means you squat 40 kilograms (1pl8 on each side).
Easiest way to come in the middle of the many, many countries using lbs and those using kilograms.
>>39426529
The second.
1pl8 means one 20kgs (45 lbs) plate on each side. So if you bench 1pl8 you're not only a pussy but also benching 40 kilograms.
1pl8=60kg
2pl8=100kg
3pl8=140kg
4pl8=180kg
And so forth and so on.
I hope this is not too mathematical way of putting it, but 1pl8 means that you have 1 20kg plate on each side of a 20kg barbell.
>>39426586
>on third of the weight you can lift is irrelevant
Why does it seem that you are seemingly implying that you should not count the 20kg of weight that the barbell brings.
Are you really that hard of a mother fucker that adding 20kg to your 1RM is totally a doable thing?
>>39426620
You count the bar?
>>39426641
Wasn't taking the piss mate, just didn't know you were supposed to count it.
>>39426643
No if its 0kg bar but at my gym there is only 20kg ones.
>>39426643
Yes, obviously.
What else you can get of 1 20kg plate on EACH SIDE (2x20kg=40kg) of the 20kg barbell (40kg(2 plates)+20kg(barbell)=60kg total.
20+20+20=60
20kg plate + 20kg plate + 20kg barbell = total of 60kg
Witch in /fit/ terms translates to "1pl8"
I don't know how I could be any more clear with this.
>>39421217
>stop posting japanese cartoon pictures you fucking manchild and i'll tell you the answer you could've easily googled
Where do you think you are?
>>39421454
But one 45lb plate on either side is 90lbs.
1pl8 means 1 plate (a plate weighs 20kg/45lb) on each side + the bar (which weighs 20kg), so that's 60kg/135lb in total.
