No, it's more like a leg press.
You can do way less poundage, but imo hits the quads harder
Tried them at a shitty college gym with no power/squat rack. Hated it, feels really off.

At first they're hard to do and doesn't feel right.
But once you get the technique down they're really nice and works the quads very hard.
