what do i do when i fail a set on a friday on texas method? i only got out 3 reps on squats this week. do i attempt the same weight next week or do i deload?

Did you have a bad day?
Never done TM, is it percent based?
Try it again next week. If that fails then go to 2x3 for the max set. When that starts failing then 5 singles. If you can't go back to 1x5 after that find a new program because you outgrew TM

i guess. i think i didn't rebound them correctly, almost doing pause squats. that probably fucked them up. i don't know what percentage based means. mondays are volume day which is ~85% of 5RM weight at 5x5, wednesdays are recovery day which is 85% of monday weight at 3x5 roughly, and on fridays you do a PR at 5 reps for squats, a press exercise and deadlifts.

isn't outgrowing texas method the same as becoming an advanced lifter?

Sometimes. Sometimes not. The whole beginner/intermediate/advanced thing is super arbitrary and subject to a lot of variables.

oh okay. i think i have atleast 2-3 good months of texas left, probably more, especially for the presses.
would you consider going down on increments before fiddling with volume? i'm currently doing 5 lbs for sq, dl and 2.5 lbs for presses. i'm considering halving sq and dl increments when those lifts get stuck more

That can be effective.
There's three main ways to tweak TM when things start to get gummed up. You can fiddle with the VD work (either higher intensity to provide more stimulus or lower if recovery is lacking), you can change your ID attempts (going from 1x5 down to lower reps) or you can take smaller jumps on your PR attempts.
