i wanna start doing trap bar deadlifts at my gym. but the problem is we don't have one at the gym.
there's one for sale right now for $120 (normal price is 300) and i'm really thinking about buying it to donate to the gym so my gym bros and i can all use it together
is this normal? i'm gonna talk to the gym manager on monday about it

I'd say it's fine if you've gone there for 2 years+
That seems dumb to me. I'd get a few bros to chip in and offer to go halfsies with the owner.
But I'm homegym and far too autistic to actually ask for something abnormal from a business. So what the fuck do I know.

Sounds like a good idea but you may have an insurance issue. If someone gets hurt using it, the gym could be liable for allowing the equipment to come into the gym from an outside source. As far as the owner knows, you welded that thing together while dressed like sonic on PCP. Fucked up but it's how business is now. I'd still give it a shot though

You can always ask the owner "if I get enough people who are interested in a trap bar will you consider getting a couple?" Most small gyms respect their customers and actually take their opinions seriously.

Yeah dude, if you're a regular and there are other people interested, there's a really good chance the gym will get one for you.
Also weird your gym doesn't have one.
Pro tip: they're amazing for farmer's walks/carry.

Most gyms don't have a trap bar.
Even a lot of hardcore gyms don't bother, albeit for different reasons.

Use dumbbells
