You're supposed to brush your teeth before you eat anyway, not after. Enzymes in your saliva soften the enamel on your teeth while you eat, and when you brush your teeth with an abrasive compound (toothpaste), you basically buff away the enamel, which can lead to cavities or tooth rot.
Brush your teeth a half hour before you eat, and if you want to clean them afterward, brush them with a soft-brissel brush w/o toothpaste, floss, and use mouth wash.
