How do I know the difference between standard lifting pain/soreness and 'nigger if you keep this up you will destroy your shit' pain? I know ive gotta keep working it to get stronger and reduce the chance of injury, but im not sure how to draw the line.
I ask because after DB Overhead Pulls, my rotator cuff feels slightly painful when I try to replicate the mostion after im done with my sets. I do 3x10 at 30 lbs, just started lifting at home. Thats why I lift so little.
I've recently started lifting at home with dumbbells just to get something going since I live in the boonies with no gym in.

Anyone have any insight to offer?

Off to do my workout. Hope I won't rip anything. Someone fucking respond in the meantime, im beggin ya.
You look new, so DOMs is gonna hit you hard. It'll eventually get better, but there will always be some soreness.

Yeah, I am new. Doms for most of my muscle groups has worn off already. Though what I feel in my shoulder isnt persistent soreness. Only when I rotate my arm a certain way do I get a small burst of pain. Oddly enough, I dont feel it right now. Havent gotten to my pulls yet though
It's not everything to watch out for, but
Soreness should be closer to an ache than a pain. It shouldn't be sharp or sudden.
If you're babying a joint or something because you're worried about it hurting, you may have hurt yourself. There's a difference between keeping all of your weight on one leg because the other gives you a shooting pain when you lean on it and hobbling around like your legs are asleep because they're sore
Sharp, sudden, pinching are all bad
Achey, something similar to feeling bruised, etc are all most likely just doms

I would definitely describe it as sudden and a pinch. On a 1 to 10 scale the pain is only like a 4 though. Not sure if this is enough to be more careful with lifts, or simply standard for someone new to overhead pulls. Ive had them in my routine only 5 times. Added them on 10/24

Consider easing off them until it goes away, doing mobility work in the meantime
Also consider that this is advice from someone dyel as fuck with very little knowledge

Like I said earlier, I dont feel the pain when I rotate RIGHT NOW. Im going to do them today one more time. If the problem resurfaces, im going to drop weight for a week to help the rotators get better used to things.
And no problem, im new too, and I figure the more people that weigh in the better of an idea Ill get on what I need to do.
