Think about it. Aerobic endurance is doing stuff at a low intensity for hours and hours. If you do something like that, your muscle endurance is the limiting factor: Take a 7 hour walk and you'll stop because your feet hurt, not because your cardio is too bad. Bike for a day, same thing - you'll stop because your legs get tired or because you get cramps.

Marathons etc. are run at a far higher intensity than "Can still talk while running", therefore it isn't aerobic.

That is aerobic fitness you stupid fuck. Your cells can no longer clear the waste products building up via their aerobic respiration.

Wow you are a moron
>>
>>39269638
no you idiot
>>
You actually do run marathons at a pace you can still talk at. Not one you can carry an entire conversation at, but you can still make complete sentences. After so many miles lactate builds up and requires you spend more and more effort to keep the same pace. That's when you start to struggle for air.

Even elites run marathons at slower than a pace where lactic acid threshold is reached. Hell the focus of ANY serious marathon training plan includes substantial lactic threshold training so you can run at a faster pace and still be processing energy aerobically instead of anaerobically.

Wrong, they are still aerobic events. Like 99%.

A 5k is still mostly an aerobic event.

Around 500-600 meter you have a 50% split between aerobic and anaerobic system.

Here's a breakdown for you

200m run: 29% aerobic; 71% anaerobic
400m run: 43% aerobic; 57% anaerobic
800m run: 66% aerobic: 34% anaerobic
1500m run: 84% aerobic; 16% anaerobic

And another

Training Better Distance Runners
Martin, D.E. and P. N. Coe 1991; Leisure Press, Champaign Il, USA p127
Table 3.4
The difference in energy sources that contribute to racing performances in Olympic Distance Events
800m: Phosphate 5%, Lactate 38%, Aerobic 57%
1500m: Phosphate 2%, Lactate 22%, Aerobic 76%
3000m: Phosphate <1%, Lactate 12%, Aerobic 88%
5000m: Phosphate <1%, Lactate 7%, Aerobic 93%
10000m: Phosphate <1%, Lactate 3%, Aerobic 97%
Marathon: Phosphate <1%, Lactate <1%, Aerobic 99%

I don't really understand aerobic fitness. I think I'm out of breath about 2 miles in yet for whatever reason I'm still able to maintain for another 4 miles. I thought as I increased my distance, shorter runs would feel easier. It feels more like I'm just able to put up with the discomfort for longer.
>>
>>39269638
This has to be one of the most stupid statements I've ever seen on /fit.
>>
>>39272420
Because you use the energy in your fat and muscles after a while.
>>
>>39272420
It has to do with your metabolic systems switching around
