The most legit explanation I've found is body recomposition. Eating above tdee on workout days and below on maintenance. Some people have had good results. But it takes a long fucking time and requires amazing diet discipline but you won't crash your hormones as much as on a full cut. Best bet. Bulk then cut. Or cut on gear.
