What's the meme with the extra 2 less reps per set?
Is SS for pussies and SL for men?

i started out doing 5x5 easily but fuck me that shit went downhill once i started hitting the higher numbers

3x5 is much more manageable

5x5 is horrible for beginners, and you will be prone to injuries. Once weight gets heavy you will have an incredibly hard time keeping it up.

3x5 is superior in every way.

I used to do 5x5 and switched to 3x5 months ago and was never happier.

>>39217788
If you look at the SL 5x5 program youll see its a true 100% beginner program. What i mean is they start the weight at basically the bar weight only. So you do 5x5 to learn the movements perfectly. And if you actually read it it says when you start failing reps to drop to 3x5.
Problem is no ones actually reads the fucking site they just shitpost hear and learn from other idiots.

5x5 is good for novice, 3x5 for intermediate.

I started with Stronglifts and then moved to Greyskull, was a good transition, was stalling on 5x5 and then the weights went up again

Im not going through all that trouble just to blow out some pajeet in a SL thread. Again switching to 3x5 is recommended anyway.

I did 12 weeks of stronglifts and then moved to Greyskull. Started empty bar on SS and plateaud around week 11. So you, I think the stalling point is good time to transition
>>
>>39217788
4x8-10 for life
>>
>>39217788
I stalled at 120 pounds for reps on bench with 3x5 even though I was on a calorie surplus. What works for me so far is getting to 5x5 with a weight, then starting at 3x5 with five more pounds and adding reps/sets until I make it to 5x5 with that. Take this with a grain of salt because this was very recent and as of today my bench is 130 3x5 + 1x2, but maybe some other stalling DYEL will try this and it'll help.

How am I autistic? Everything i said is true. Plus i know im stronger than you fag so keep dreaming.

For fucks sake read the site. If you fail a lift 3 times drop to 3x5.

No, but I never played any sports so I started at 75 pounds, and I don't throw an extra 30 pounds onto my lifts when I go internetting like most people. Post your body instead of a white knight meme if you're so much better big guy. No homo.

Look man like i said to that other fag i dont gotta prove shit to you. My bench is intermediatte at 265x5. Been lifting 2 years. Im just saying your numbers are very low so you better eat some damn food cause changing rep schemes that early on is not going to help. You are easily still in the window of beginner gains
>>39218404
>lmao this is why people say SL is fucking garbage
People say its garbage cause they do it wrong. No one reads the site they just lurk here for a week and wing it in the gym.
>>

Read the site and it's garbage
>when you stall on SL just do SS!

I never said do SS you stupid faggot. 3x5 is a rep scheme it doesnt mean SS automatically. It says on the SL site to cahnge its own rep scheme to 3x5 not to switch to another beginner program you weak faggot.

>>39218629
Im not but ok. If you actually think a 265 bench is even worth lying over thats embarrassing. If i said 350 then you should be suspicious.
>>
>>39218960
>350 bench is good
Topkek. I was lying earlier, my bench is actually 400. How does it feel knowing you're a jealous 265 DYEL who can't post his body?
>>
>>39218960
>you weak faggot
Triggered?
You do realize SL with 3x5 rep range is almost exactly like SS, a beginner program?
>>
SL is pretty shit compared to SS just like 5x5 is massively inferior to 3x5 in almost anything.

It can be beneficial for newbs who are starting to squat an empty bar and need a lot of reps to learn the technique.

But if you're training to actually get strong and have already progressed a bit, good luck doing fucking 5x5 you cuck. By that time you should know 3x5 is superior.
>>
>>39219014

Not him but 265 is bench is 'good ish'

It doesn't strike me as a lie.

How weak are you dude

You stupid kids do realize that lifting super heavy isn't sustainable in the long term and it's better to maintain after a certain point is reached. Shame you fat e-statters/high schoolers aren't aware of this.

>what are diminishing returns
>>
>>39219548
This is true, but for most of the (male) population 2/3/4/5 doesn't actually represent strength specialisation, even though it's freakishly strong by genpop standards.

If you're not a strength athlete you can probably afford to lift for maintenance if you're squatting 600 and deadlifting 700. Anyone else can stand to be stronger.

>Dimimishing returns

Thanks for not referencing muscle adaptation and CNS firing. Muscle confusion is real and its why you are encouraged to deload or increase intensity of workouts based upon prevailing and inherent failures.

If you are experiencing diminishing returns at a very elite level you are either reaching a genetic potential, muscular limit, or not fueling and resting yourself well enough.

Fun fact: Most of you will never reach that level natty and most people on gear won't either.
>>
>>39219487
SL is a shit program made by a dude who lifted for 20 years and by his own admission says he accomplished very little. SL has an app and does well with marketing to normies who think about being strong. SL is shit compared to most of beginner routines including but not limited to Greyskull and SS.
The fact that you (i dont care if it wasn't (you)) switched from SL to Greyskull and saw gains says all that it needs to say about the program. The fact that you also switched from a beginner routine to another beginner routine says all it needs to say about YOU.
>>
>>39219663
Deloading has nothing to do with muscle confusion. Are you legit retarded?
>>
>>39219704
Genuinely asking this
Why is sl so shit compared to ss when they are so similar?
>>
>>39219807
Because SL is dogshit 5x5
Because SL doesn't have PCs
>>
>>39219704
>switched from SL to Greyskull and saw gains says all that it needs to say about the program.
Well like you said that wasnt me. Youre a weak fag and you should just quit at this point.

>>39219807
It isnt. Thats a fucking meme said by this 100lb skellys. They both are fine programs for someone who is literally just starting out.
>>
>>39219828
I agree 5x5 is shit but why would you do PC if you were an average lifter and not doing oly shit.
It's not squat / DL tier
>>
>>39219840
>not doing oly lifting
>not doing explosive lifts
Cuck detected, the average lifter is pure trash
>>
>>39217896
>>39217938
Greyskull is for novice.
You stopped getting results with 5x5 because it is inferior to ACTUAL novice programs like gslp or ss

Intermediate lifters should do higher rep work to accrue more volume with less fatigue
>>
>>39219807
It has too many sets for a strength routine which uses 90% of 1RM as working weight.
It asks you to deload too soon and when you deload there's nothing to keep you from plateauing again (AMRAP help here).
There's no phasing to keep LP going up. It's the same lifts over and over for months.
The website spews a lot of misinformation about incorrect form.

>>39219838
>Youre a weak fag and you should just quit at this point.
lol
>>
>>39218075
>T.DYEL
>>
>>39219845
Why would you train explosive lifts if you don't play a sport more than casually? Do you also train for marathons you will never run?
>>
>>39219861
cuz olympic lifting is a sport in itself bruh? its the ONLY sport worth doing truly
>>
>>39219879
No shit, the entire point of the discussion was about average lifters who do not do competitive Olympic lifting
>>
I'm at the end of my SL run now, the 5x5 is good for when you're first learning and need practice with your form. eventually it gets to be too much and you have to drop to 3x5, but if you read the program instructions it says that anyways
>>
>>39219859
I never had any issues with form from the SL website do you have a specific example?
>>
SL is a meme, too much volume for beginners when they start hitting higher numbers, just do SS and save yourself the time and effort. You'll plateau earlier on SL.
>>
>>39218274
>tfw stalling at 120lbs for reps
Thanks for the advice, anon. Might try it out. Been trying to do madcow but stalling now. I can only get 4 reps every time I try 120lbs on bench. Stalling at 185lbs x 4 squat as well. (I weigh 105lbs).
>>
>Is SS for pussies and SL for men?
They're both for little boys.

It's literally just two different beginner routines. Beginners shouldn't overthink these things. Just pick one, get stronger and move on to actually lifting when you're done with it.
