So I'm really average, not lean n not really fat, but I want to actually get in shape. I work pretty much every day, but my schedule isn't exactly consistent enough to let me go to the gym, mostly because they aren't close by.

And to be honest, I'm somewhat lazy in that i don't want to restructure my life around working out.

I can, however, take an hour or two a day to work out. Assuming I can do so at home. I don't really have work-out equipment (all i have is 2 10lbs dumbbells). What can I do to get in shape?
>>
>>39190015
10 minutes to drive to the gym, 45-60 minutes of lifting, 10 minutes to drive home. How long do you think people are at the gym for?

I would recommend doing more body weight and running exercises. Maybe buy a pull up bar, and some more (progressively heavier) dumbells
>>
>>39190162
Should i get weights, or start with the pull-up bar?
What would be more cost-effective? I never really worked out much before, so I'm kinda clueless desu.
(What's the whole "sets and reps" thing? I know reps is how many you do, and you're supposed to rest between each set, but how long am i supposed to rest?

1) It's up to you and what your goals are, pull up bar would be way cheaper than getting weights, but weights are more versatile

2) reps are the motions, pushing the bar up in a bench press would be an example of one rep. Sets are a group of reps, for example doing 10 reps could be considered one set.

3) People don't seem to agree on the amount of rest between sets, but it is generally 30-60 seconds, just go when you feel ready, but don't wait too long

Alright thanks. A minute sounds long though, is there a minimum time I should wait? Is there a reason to wait? Like what's the difference between 2 sets of 10 reps, and one set of 20 reps?

Do you Americans seriously enjoy driving your ass everywhere and not feel even a little bit stupid about it?
>>
>>39190376
You only rest 30 to 60 seconds are you insane
What about heavy compounds
An exhausting deadlift set can take me 5 minutes to recover
>>
>>39190376
1.5-3 minutes is normal. up to 5 if youre lifting heavy.

Yes. However, you must understand that the Americans that drive everywhere live in the suburbs and places can be far away. Nobody is going to walk 2-3 miles to the grocery store m8.

That being said, gas is cheap around here. $1.83 per gallon I paid yesterday, about $27 for a full tank if I remember correctly. I make that much money (before taxes) in an hour of working, and I'm a recent college grad.

I have a car you dumb ass. I don't drive it around town because I can walk or cycle or take a tram.
>>
>>39192298
2-3 miles walk to grocery is kinda stupid but you can easily survive that if you walk to a gym. And at least half a year you can easily cycle that distance.

I save biking for the weekends. Just keep in mind, if you live in an American subdivision in the suburbs, it's highly likely that you will be driving everywhere.

There is public transportation sometimes but it's really unreliable and only homeless/people in poverty use it.

I also used to live in Europe (Poland), and I would walk everywhere because I lived in a small town. People had cars but they would only use them if they were going out of town.

>>39192382
Or village if that's what you want to call it (800 people).

Europeans don't understand that America is huge. Each of our states is roughly the size of one of your countries. Our cities can be extremely spaced out in terms of where neighborhoods and businesses are. So no. Most people don't feel stupid driving the 5+ miles instead of walking to get virtually anywhere they need to go.

Buy dumbbells
Do dumbbell excercises
It doesn't matter in the beginning, as long as you work out, noob gains will come

Yea, let me just walk 30 miles to work and get groceries. Fucking idiots, not everyone in the world lives in compact little cities.
