Now I'm slightly below average.

Started out by adding weights to bodyweight stuff by putting heavy things in backpacks. Eventually started buying cheap plates whenever they were on sale. Mostly did weighted pull-ups, push-ups & dips. My strength kept increasing so I finally decided to buy some damn books and a barbell and do something balanced.

The first year was a continuous process of adding/subtracting various lifts to see what worked with my frame and what didn't. Experimentation is fun but the routine I stuck with was all fundamental compound lifts anyway. Took a few years but I have squat stands, two benches, three barbells, two dumbbells and about 500 pounds in Oly plates. Home gym master race

Its definitely easy to get laid if your super /fit/ right? If I do all this work and everything is just the same that is going to be absolutely crushing. I swear I'm not a huge sperg with a speech impediment or anything, and people generally like me. I'm just super naive about romance and generally lack confidence.

When I first started lifting I was in high school and thought once my arms where big enough girls would finally like me. I kept lifting more and more. I thought they just didnt like me because my arms werent big enough. So i lifted harder. I started wearing tanktops to school and staring at my crush hoping she will know that i like her and will approach me after class. She never did.
It got to a point where i would do some curls before school every day hoping that my pump will last till 3rd period and she would notice and approach me. It didnt work. So i lifted harder before school hoping the pump would be bigger and longer so that she could finally approach me. She never approached me. I never approached her.

Im glad everything is over now and im in a better mental state.

Also after writing all this out i just read a couple replies and realized the thread is about weight. I think i was doing about 115 or so on bench when i was going through this crazy period.

That guy wasn't me, but for real dude? Your going to feed me this typical life path normie bullshit? First off If I followed this stereotypical white picket fence crap I would have already gotten laid awhile ago. Second, I'm coming here trying to improve my life, and you're telling me to just not worry about it, because other aspects of my life totally compensate for my shortcomings. What If I don't want to compensate? What if I don't want to compromise? What if I want to be just as good as everyone else? I want to win! I don't want to accept. Why should I pretend being some 30+ virgin is OK? You know it's not healthy and so does everyone else. Nobody thinks this shit is ok, they think it's fucked up. They laugh at it. They think it's pathetic and sad. I don't want to be pathetic and sad, and I don't want to feel pathetic and sad anymore, so I'm trying to figure out wtf I need to do about it and do it. Why is this wrong? Why am I being shot down? When have you ever met some deep web wizard who was just ok with it?

Military really only requires you to run fast, shoot good, do pulls up and do sit ups. Really not much need for an excellent physique.

Well, then I realized how shitty life was in the Military and depression started to kick in and my buddy saw that and started dragging me to the gym, even though I constantly told him I didn't know how to lift weights and I didn't want to look stupid. I couldn't even press the bar on bench without it being super unstable...

I by no means have Made It, but I've grown tremendously from when I started.

Lost about 40 pounds with the help of my mom in like 2012, but slowly gained it all back over time and we all just quit working. But I don't consider that my start.

My actual start was last year in December. Wanted to start in time to not be a total NYRfag. Was doing SL 5x5 3 times a week, but I was a fucking idiot and only did the A workout routine and never the B routine. Then I fell out of the gym life for a few months due to getting caught up in moving and some other shit. Going to get my membership back tomorrow if someone's there working the desk. Need to get in better shape (put on 15 pounds) to fit into my tux for a wedding I'm gonna be in. The place I moved to is like 5 minutes from my gym, vs my old place being nearly 30 minutes away. Feelsgoodman.

fat, optimistic, hopeful.
People would deny the machines from me.
Laugh when I'd fail my reps on bench and squats.
But now 40lbs gone, and at 15% bodyfat.
I can say it was worth it.
My gym buddies are gone.
It's just me left.
But the dream lives on.
>>
started lifting at 15 when i was skinnyfat and 4 inches shorter.
Back then i remember i benched the bar for 3x10, often couldnt even do the 10 reps. I was weak, my face was round and i was a yawlet.
Been lifting quite consistently now for 7 years. In that time ive grown to 6'1, got braces and am no longer yawlet. I used to weigh 75kg when i was 15 and all fat. now i hower around 80kg and keep the bf really low. now i can bench 2pl8 for 5.
Am happy with my results. When i see people i knew back when i was a fat manlet kid they are absolutely amazed at what i look like now.
The fatness related self esteem issues are still there. I sometimes dont get that a woman is attracted to me despite obvious signs because of that.
>>
Started out unable to squat full ROM because I was so inflexible. Took 2 months until I could do 95lbs. That was about 1 year and I'm at 3x6 for 265 and I hope to get up to 3 pl8 for 5 by summer.

Small steps for /fit/ but big steps for anon. Can't wait to do proper pull ups and squat my bodyweight through
>>
Started with the bar on everything about 2 months ago, I remember when I skipped bench for the first few sessions because I tried benching the bar and got stuck under it, never wanted to bench again until I finally decided to just do it. Magically was able to bench the bar with ease, then just upped the weight from there on. Now at a little over .5pl8 which is poverty as fuck but it's still progress, aiming for 1pl8 by the end of the year and hopefully a 2pl8 squat and 2.5pl8 dead. Also couldn't do a single pushup/pullup when I started, now I can do like 15 pushups in a row and 8 strict neutral grip pullups, maybe a bit more if i'm fresh, just keep at it lads, we're all gonna make it.

I had no confidence and I was a loser pussy who couldn't protect myself. All I used to do was get drunk and play vidya games. I got my haircut short and decided to take step into a boxing gym where my older brother trained.

8 years later and it was the best choice I ever made. I got /fit/, I got confidence, I stopped being lazy and got a work ethic. As time went on I was confident enough to truly be myself, I wasn't scared of "not fitting in" because I knew I could protect myself if things got physical after a lifetime of being bullied.

As time went on I started dressing smart and dancing with girls in clubs, developing chat up lines etc. Starting boxing was the biggest thing that ever happened in my life and I will always praise it. No matter how shit like gets boxing is always there.

Right now I have no friends because of shit happening,I don't drink alcohol or do drugs, I don't enjoy video games or anything. I'd be truly lost right now if it wasn't for boxing; I just go training 4 or 5 nights a week and socialize down the club.

Feels like I never started. Been lifting for two years and gained 20 kilos. When I first squatted I squatted about 30 kilos. Now I'm at 140. Took me two years though and I'm really disappointed in my progress. Can't deadlift 180 yet or bench 100. Can Ohp 60 though.

>>
I did calisthenics for about 3 - 4 months, to get me ready for the gym, both mentally and physically.

It really did improve my physique and mood, people would comment and say that I now had pecs etc.

It was generally:

5 days a week (didn't know about recovery)
3x20 Pressups
3x20 Crunches
3x20 BW Squats
1x8, 1x6, 1x4 Pullups
>>

Thanks will do, those were my starting numbers though. I'm at 125/190/245/280x5 now. Still doing the same routine 5 months later but added some assistance work for arms and shoulders. Thinking about switching to Texas Method eventually, but I still am getting linear progression on some lifts so I'll be sticking with this for a little longer.
