How much can you push press /fit/?

rn i can do ~ 30 lbs over bodyweight (195)
>>
>>39153810
I don't know. I've never done a pushpress before.
>>
>>39153810
I don't see the point of push pressing, military is miles better, push press is ego lifting, unless you are using it as part of C&J training
>>
>>39153810
135×10 for strict ohh
195x1 on push press
Manlet 5 6 175
>>
>>39153832
its really not, hits triceps , traps and and medial delts just as hard as ohp
>>
>>39153832
It's to help get past sticking points similar as starting off the pins or blocks higher than your head. Also, gets you acclimated to heavier weights.
>>
>>39153810

I couldn't tell you, I only do The Press™
>>
Increasing your push press means that you're either increasing your explosiveness in your upper or lower body (or both). It's great for strongman or shotput/hammer/discus. The only bitch is if you can't drop the weight due to no bumpers and your elbows and shoulders get hammered by the eccentric.
Honestly, anyone who gets a OHP of over bw from just OHPing and benching without doing a shit ton of assistance work is a genetic freak or roiding. You just need so much upper back strength, tricep strength, and shoulder strength to get beyond bw.
>>
>>39153832
as a supramaximal military press
>>
>>39153810

Klokov can literally strict OHP like 330+ lbs
>>
>>39153810
>crossfit plates
kek yeah no.
>>
>>39153832
i hate doing it strict, the lockout is a piece of cake while getting it off your chest is a a pain in the ass
leg drive fixes this
>>
185x3 strict, 240 push press

To everyone who doesn't, removes sticking point for triceps, fantastic shoulder development
>>
>>39154488
His record is 180kg iirc
>>
>>39154495
>crossfit plates
>crossfit
kek yeah no.
>>
>>39154598
Klokov is crossfit newfriend.
>>
My best is 200 for a triple, but that's more or less bodyweight lol.
>>
>>39154570
what sort of stuff do u do assistance wise?
>>
>>39153810
I was always told it was a meme, but I have been stalling on my OHP. Is it really that big of a help?
>>
I saw Alan Thrall push press his body weight and put the bar on his traps to prepare for a high bar squat without a rack.
>>
>>39154823
I hope you don't mean that pejoritavely
>>
>>39155156
Kind of but he's gotta make his money somehow so I don't blame him.
>>
>>39155290
Right well they are bumper plates not these mysterious crossfit plates you think exist

In the video the picture is from he's still competing at oly, not making money promoting crossfit

He's training at the Russian Olympic weightlifting centre

And your a faget who will never be even half as strong as he is

Yeah I was joking. Be nice to people.
>>
>>39155676
I'm wrestling with some emotional issues, I'm trying to be nicer but it's hard
>>
>>39153810
i can push press 104kg @ 82
>>
im a bixer so pushpressing is perfect for me.
>>
>>39154587
seems way too much for klokov, as far as i remember that's strongman tier, like eddie hall tier, don't get me wrong, klokov is a massive beast but 180kg strict press is way too much
>>
>>39155995
Here's 162 power clean and strict Press from last year

https://youtu.be/WnJd42b3EfI

Here's chingiz and berestov too

>>
Most of you don't even know how to push press. For example, a girl at our oly gym can do like 5 reps with 80kg behind his neck, but struggles to OHP 55kg for a single.

I think every fitizen should learn how to be explosive, its a great skill
>>
Best i did was 95kg for 5 reps
85kg bw , can also ohp 5x5 70kg
>>
>>39153832
I do strongman so being good at push pressing is really important
230x5 at 230 bodyweight
>>
>>39157925
Btn push pressing is a lot easier than in front. Magnus Ver Magnusson btn push pressed 500lbs in a WSM in the 90s, no way could he do that from the front.
>>
>>39153832
Push Press carries over to most sports
You are actually playing sports... right?
>>
>>39158654
You should do jerks or power jerks most of the time if you do sports
>>
>>39154107
or trains long enough

t. over bw ohper
>>
>>39153832
The eccentric overloads your muscles more then a strict press. It actually helps you progress faster on your strict press.
>>
>>39157715
He's so fucking fast off the bottom. Holy shit.
>>
I haven't maxed in forever, usually stick to triples. I've done 100x3 but not for a really long time (bw 77 at the time)
>>
How are you all such push press pros? My PP max is 100kg but my strict OHP max is 85kg at 95kg. I swear, either this thread is full of e-stats or /fit/'s constant complaints about its OHP are completely exaggerated
>>
>>39159093
You probably just don't squat enough
>>
>>39154107
>anyone who gets a OHP of over bw from just OHPing and benching without doing a shit ton of assistance work is a genetic freak or roiding
this isnt neccesarily true since anyone who does ohp likely does other stuff aswell
>>
>>39158958
>implying anyone has time to learn jerks
theres a reason why most athletes do power cleans and push presses because these are the easiest to learn
>>

>>39159609
If you have a real athlete who has done sports in his/her life, teaching a simple task like clean or jerk will be easy. It will take a few months still maybe, but it will be worth it. For a guy who sat on his ass all his life and started SS a few weeks ago it can be pretty hard.

Gif related. How hard do you think a jerk is compared to the motor tasks she has to learn?
>>
>>39159093
Or maybe you just never did anything explosive with your lower body in your life

Squats and diddys don't carry much to power movements, if you never do power movements
>>
>>39158958
You're wrong here.

Jerks/power jerks are useful, but they are all about the lower body. A good jerk gets the bar up so you can get under it.

A good push press is all about the transfer from lower body power to upper body power.

If a jerk accomplishes the same thing a push press accomplishes for you, you are doing one of them incorrectly.
>>
>>39153847
hits triceps much harder than OHP since the weight is so much higher, actually
>>
>>39155111
I saw him this morning at the gym using A FUCKING MAC.
lost all respect
>>
>>39161039
And in most sports you use lower body +90% of the time, so why am i wrong here
>>
>>39154107

And what anout the small army of skinny people all over the place who can do one hand hand stand pushups?
>>
>>39162095
Because you should also train the 10% of upper body? There's a reason why football players, rugby players, track and field athletes, and others train bench press. Push press is a good exercise for athletes because it requires very strong, explosive legs, and the exercise also overloads the delts and triceps with the lockout .
>>
>>39162122
thats why i said most of the time breh
>>
i can ohp 90kg what should i try to push press
>>
>>39162164
Try for ~1.3 times your strict press. Obviously work up to that, don't cuck yourself if you are not used to the movement.
>>
>>39154107
>The only bitch is if you can't drop the weight due to no bumpers and your elbows and shoulders get hammered by the eccentric.
learn to catch it like you'd catch a clean/jerk
>>
>>39162242
If you're trying to max that's fine, but I really recommend taking the slow eccentric if you're doing 3-5 reps with a weight you know you can handle. That's where The Big gets made.
>>
>>39154107
Just catch the weight on your traps, it's a lot easier than bringing it down to the front.
>>
Maxed out at 80 kg @ 87 bw recently after not doing it for ages (old PR 3x67.5)

Strict 3x62.5 or 6x60
>>
>>39153810

A proper push press with momentum probably 155-165

Why is push press so goat compared to natty ohp?
>>
>>39154107
>You just need so much upper back strength, tricep strength, and shoulder strength to get beyond bw.
Lol no.
Triceps activity is only a third compared to triceps isolation exercises.
OHP is only really limited by front delt strength.
>>
>>39153810
75 kg 5 x 3. Want to get to 100 so fucking bad mayne
>>
105kg at 70kg bw

120kgx3@102kg bw

Never tried to ohp over 90kg
