Nah, not 6 sigma or anything. Just advances process control for plants and refineries. Most people really let their insteimentation fall to shit or have bad tuning which loses them money.

And yea, worth it. Schooling was hard though. If anyone is adverse to going to college, just become a plant operator I would suggest. Good money and usually no education required...

Very satisfied. Its my first job out of college, got it with a company I interned for. They're growing super fast and the leadership loves me - I've done very well in the projects I've handled so far (five months in, completely redid our AdWords campaign, hired new developers, wrote a few business plans for int'l expansion and spinning off into related industries).

Will likely be in charge of our new operation in Australia this time next year, with the expectation I'll eventually build it into an operation spanning most of Asia.

Don't fall for the GPA meme, focus on your internships, student leadership positions, and networking while you're in school. Nobody gives a fuck about your 4.0 unless you're going to grad school. If you want a job, prove you get things done in environments that are similar to a work place.

not >>39151287 but he's not wrong. Microcap (companies worth 300 million and less) stocks with low float spiking on good news. I dont swingtrade because I'm bad at predicting overnight situations. Just today I traded DRWI, in at 3.40 on the breakout, out at 3.8 when it was a lower trough, then again in at 4.20 and out at 4.40. Made 1.8k today.

I read so many books and watched so many DVDs. I started learning back in college when I was 18. I was super dumb and overconfident, thought trading was easy and after just 2 months of "studying" i started trading and lost 10k in 2 months. Took me about 2 years to make consistent profits.
>>
>>39151304
>fiat isn't legitimate
yes it is, idiot. Look around. Fiat is legitimate because society deems it legitimate. You must be one of those End Duh Fed!!! retards huh. Which probably means you want to go back to the gold standard?
Well, consider this:
This is a bad idea because countries lose the flexibility to expand or contract the monetary supply in response to economic conditions. An expanding economy requires more currency to make transactions, and a failure to supply this currency will retard economic growth or and/or lead to deflation. A shrinking economy, in the absence of a banking crisis, will require less money, and a failure to remove money from the economy can lead to inflation. The worst situation is when a banking crisis appears simultaneously with a depressed economy. People respond to the uncertainty by holding onto money. This leads to both depressed prices of commodities (i.e., which translates to less demand for mining new gold) and a need for more currency to be added to the economy. The resulting deflation can cause people to hoard even more currency, exacerbating the economic crisis.

Explaining economics to people is useless - remember, we live in a society where your opinion is legitimate simply by the virtue of you having one.

My degree is in economics. The amount of people that assume you're lying/condescending when you explain simple concepts to them is insane. everybody thinks they know what they're talking about because they pay taxes.

>tfw libertarian economics is the equivalent of the flat earth theory
>>
>>39151425
no, the social contract is why it's not theft. To live in a society, you accept both the rights AND responsibilities of that society. This being a republic, you accept the decisions (as long as the are constitutional) made by the people that the majority vote into power. Saying the parts you don't like are theft is basically just whining.

Oil is rising but it's a global commodity, I mean it might keep going but very slowly. It's gonna take you years to get 40k to 100k holding billion dollar companies.

How good are you at day/swingtrading? It took me fucking long as shit to learn. I think you should start studying hard and then start trading penny stocks like I do. Keep your position sizes small, I rarely trade with a position bigger than 10k so it's quite hard to lose a lot of money, I dont think I'll ever have a 10k loss like you did in the past. If i doubled or tripled my position size I could be making 500k a year but that's too much stress and 10k loss would be easy. I dont think I could stomach a loss that big

My biggest issue with Sowell is an opposition to the Fed - central banks are necessary in that they are necessary to prevent market freefall in the event of a major economic shock. The impacts of 2008 would have been much worse if the Fed wasn't able to implement QE.

The Fee Market is great, but regulation is necessary. Some markets need it more than others. Food and Drug companies have repeatedly demonstrated regulation is necessary for consumer health and safety. However, I'm opposes to regulations like zoning laws. Houston is a great example of this - although that city needs to get its shit together and get a train system, it has largely avoided pricing lower income people out of areas close to the city and skyrocketing real estate costs in cities like San Francisco and Manhattan ( of course, the abundance of developable land certainly doesn't hurt when in comes to keeping prices low - that can't entirely be attributed to the relatively few zoning laws in H town).

He fundamentally misunderstands issues facing minorities and how structural inequality works. His ideas on leaving poverty don't account for a lot of sociological and paycological factors, and hugely underestimate the impact of generational wealth.

Don't agree with him on much. Liberalism is appealing, but not a sustainable system in the long-term. Nobody wants every road to be a toll road.

I can only speak to my particular niche of microcap daytrading particularly buying breakouts and dip buying bounces of support, but if you're interested in that then the DVD i mentioned earlier in the thread is the best one I've ever watched. Idk how much you know about trading but I feel like unless you're an expert you should watch it as a refresher to the various candlestick and psychological patterns if nothing else.

I'm only 25 so I haven't been doing this successfully for very long but who knows, maybe with experience I'll get more comfortable and start increasing my position sizes and I can hit 500k or even a mil a year. Maybe other civil service jobs would be good for you? Idk where you live or what pay is but my dad works for the Department of Sanitation here in NYC and he pulls in near 6 figures every year once you factor in overtime. Firefighters also make hella bank.

nah m8 if you really wanted to you learn to trade, you could do it. You dont not have to be smart at all to do what I do because you're competing with other normies. I trade shitty companies that wall st doesnt give a fuck about, therefore I'm not competing with the insanely intelligent people and computer that trade bigger stocks like Facebook and Apple. The most important thing would be discipline and ability to not act on emotion. After that it takes just some time studying (less time than a degree in college if you have the right tools) and then the money making possibilities are basically endless.

I run the social media and do some general graphic design, PR shit for a very famous adult company.

I make about 30k a year. Job is relaxed and not super stressful. Not exactly a cakewalk though.

Nah. I've been thinking about killing myself for several years now. I'm extremely disappointed in myself for where I am thus far and not being more of a success. I work 45 hours a week and go to school for computer science at night, and spend 8-10 hours a week in the gym. I am mediocre in all aspects.

Every day on my way to work I see some guy around my age driving a Mercedes G-Wagon and I feel so much anger that it isn't me.

Pic is me to make it /fit/ related. I'm also extremely unhappy with my body.

Oh cool, I was a lifeguard too all throughout high school and college.

My advice is spend several months just reading and watching DVDs and youtube videos learning before touching your money, and then when you start, start off with 1000 dollars per trade or less. You're definitely going to make mistakes so you want to keep losses small.

In your search for learning materials you're probably gonna come across Tim Sykes as he's very famous in this field. He's a decent trader but not a very good teacher imo because he is very scatter-brained and disorganized. You can watch his videos on youtube to see the stock patterns and where he got into and out of a trade but I wouldnt spend my time listening to everything he says, it just takes too long

I am an internet salesman for Toyota. So I sell both, but end up primarily selling new. Like 75/25 new used. We get 25% of the gross profit of the front end at my store. Meaning if you buy a car at full price with a markup of $2000 and we hold $1000 on your trade, I made 25% of $3000, technically I made 25% of $2600 because the dealer takes out $400 but that's irrelevant mostly. Most deals I do end up being negative deals, or deals with gross so little I get my flat pay of $150 a unit. Most of your money gets made by hitting unit bonuses and what not.

>>39153199
ah ok. When you say most deals end up being negative deals you mean people jew you down to below invoice price? Why does the dealer sell them for that cheap? Wouldn't they be losing money? Or is the invoice price not the "real" invoice price that the dealer pays for the car so they make money regardless?

Reason I'm asking is because my parents bought a 2016 subaru forester recently and it was supposed to be 28k MSRP but my mom jewed it down to 25, and then she felt bad for the salesmen when I said he's probably not gonna make an money off of us because Im pretty sure that 25k is close to if not below MSRP

btw when is the Supra coming out i want one

Nope been in practice several years, currently work as a government lawyer. That's just literally how shitty salaries are for the 99 percent of grads who don't have daddy's firm to hire them (assuming daddy is partner at one of the firms that hasn't been cannibalized since the entire field took a collective shit). That's actually great for my area, i have old classmates who have been pulling 70+ hour weeks as lawyers for years and are still stuck in basements doing document review for 12 bucks an hour.

When you've got literally 2-3 qualified, licensed law grads for each job available (all jobs, including the shit ones) there is literally no incentive for employers to pay you more than shit, and practically no industry wants to hire a licensed JD for non lawyer work since you are seen as a flight risk and washout.

Seriously, any lawyer under 35 will tell you: do. Not. Fucking. Go. To. Law. School.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, was at work.
Advice is:
work hard, be happy you're at work, show interest in your job to your bosses (come in early, ask what the plan for the day is etc)
take all shifts offered, take all opportunities
commit to saving an amount of $ a week, right now. doesn't have to be much, just save something in an account always, NEVER skip it or take out of that account.
stop spending money on stupid shit and little luxuries if you could save extra money instead.
once you have ~$20k (idk where you live, I'm in aus) find a mortgage broker and buy a house 30-45 minutes out from a city (cheaper, you can deal with the commute)
I found that my mortgage payments are the same as rent would be on a similar house in my location ($350/w, 3 bedroom, pool, rougly 1 square km block)
If i did this shit at 19 working casually at a minimum wage job everyone else can, hope this helps
