>Farmers Walk
Do you guys do this exercise? If so, when, how long, what weight you are using?
No, I dropped them once I realized I could hit 2 birds with one stone if I'd just do weighted pull ups or heavy rows or even shrugs
>>39110459
225 minimum per hand, 50 feet.
>>39110459
Helps with grip. On leg day do weighed lunges across the gym and then farmers.
>>39110504
>leg day
>>39110490
you can do far heavier FW than weighted pullups though and nothing trains grip better than heavy as fuck FW for as long as possible pref. minimum of 20-30s
>>39110496
nice
>>39110459
I do this with my groceries once a week, for like 15 minutes, does that count?
>>39110459
>when
When I have access to handles
>how long
A few sets of 20 yards
>weight
My PR is 130kg per hand, 110 without a belt or chalk
>>39111520
haha what a memer
>farmer walks
>not even a farmer

>go to normie gym where a 2 pl8 squat is enough to get mired
>375 on trap bar, everyone looking at me as if they doubt i can deadlift it
>walk with it across the room
>put it down, quickly look to my right to catch someone slipping as they stare in shock and awe
>catch a dude merlin, he looks away and pretends to check his phone
>3 pl8 bencher who can only deadlift about 2pl8 for reps thats twice my size gives me a confused look

25 kg per hand as last exercise for my pull routine. Im holding the dumbells as long as possible then i drop them. I do 3 sets.
Shitty city-owned """gym""" so I have limited equipment.
I currently only do them with two 50 pound dumbbells for 3 sets of 25 seconds.
The old guys there think I'm a god.
:/
I do them at the end of my non-deadlift back day if I'm done early. Good all around GPP work.

Have done 265# per hand
Would like to get to 300# per hand, but my pickup strength isn't there yet
P fun exercise would recommend

How bad of an idea would it be to add loaded carries on Friday, on a novice 3x5?
Never hear anyone talk about novices and weighted carries. They aren't super taxing

My forearms are pretty small and i want to start doing farmer walks, is doing them with 40kg dumbells (highest in my gym) enough to train my forearms?
>>39110459
I have limited equipment and often workout at home so I just do hangs off of a pullup bar

Farmer's walks are full-body conditioning. If you think they can be replaced, you weren't doing them heavy enough.

I do 4 times this amount, but lower weights. Does it help to decrease range a bit, haha? Whats the normal range for one rep?

I didn't specify, but it's really 100 feet, 50 feet each way with a brief (10s or less) set down between unless I'm going ham.
As I increase the weight, I cut the distance. One rep max I would probably go 25ft each way, for 50 total. I rarely test for maxes with farmers though. I could probably do about 275-300 per hand at that distance.

The objective weight doesnt matter as much as how challenging it is for you. 40kg might work for you since you havent trained as much but for a bigger and stronger person it might be 80kg. Don't stress numbers, stress progress
doing suitcase carry right now
Jeff Caviar says it assists core development
