No idea where to post this so I guess here is a good place:

>Out of gym for at least a year, a little bit more in fact
>Been trying to train intelligently as I get back into the swing of things (been about a month I guess at this point)
>Cutting hard so sad about not making strength gains and such (actually am making some size/strength gains because muscle memory, but you know what I mean)

Obviously that's nothing impressive but it feels good and is motivating after being out of it for so long, cutting hard, etc. I feel like I could be at 405 again soon even when cutting, but I don't have much of a reason to at the moment (working on bodybuilding) so will probably stick with 315 for reps for now.

I squat 4.5pl8x5 routinely at my "commercial" gym and literally no one watches and no one gives a shit.

Figured I should ask here. I've literally never been into a gym, and I'm basically skinny fat mode. yes, i've read the sticky. But where do I even start? where did you guys start when you first starting lifting? All the muscle jargon and shit in workout programs is fucking complicated, and honestly asking for advice on various boards on 4chan helps me understand shit a lot better than just googling it.

Just do what I did and ask a trainer for advice on how to lift with proper form and they should take you around the place and show you what's what.

If you want a starting program then do SS or SL. Once again, ask a trainer to show you the ropes.

Im also running 3k, trying to get under 12 minutes but im currenty fastest at 13:20.
In addition I do pull ups, push ups, and hanging leg raises after every 5x5 workout.
I still do those three on rest days. Im still skinny and seem to have no problem doing it every day.

Sorry to hear about the tendinitis in your elbow. I go kinda slow and focus on the muscles im working and i've never gotten hurt in the gym. I want to join the FFL in February, so thats why I run everyday.

People seem to ignore this a lot. Going to the gym regularly gives you discipline, it is a commitment. The important part for newbies is to make sure they commit. Gym helped me with my laziness issue and allowed me to commit to a clean diet.
