Hello people of /fit/ I have been working out since a year now and I've always wondered is it better to workout the full body or is 2 muscle groups a day better?

Don't do full body. Then you'd just be 1/5'th-assing your workouts, every workout.
Go for 2 a day. For example chest and back, chest and legs, etc.

its called push pull legs my man
Push pull legs
Full body workouts take forever, and you are to drained to put in good reps by the end.

I am sorry but what does push pull legs mean, are u referring to full body as that?
>>39101926
One day you do Pushing exercises (bench, overhead press, etc), second day you'd do pulling exercises (deadlift, rows, etc) third day you'd do legs, which is self explanatory.

this is an excellent guide for beginners.
generally ppl means that u do pushes (bench, ohp and the like) on push days, pulls (rows, deadlifts and the like) on pull days and do legs on leg days
Been doing 3 day a week for most of my time lifting. Greyskull to Madcow to Lyle Mcdonalds bulking routine to my own three day full body routine I run know
>>39101870
what if you only have three days?
>>39102024
then P/P/L will do a solid job.

>PPL
>linear progression
>for a beginner
pick 1 and only 1
>>39101853
what are your lifts?
if you've been sort of fucking around and are still a novice then fullbody. if you're intermediate then an intermediate routine
>>39102100
why would you sacrifice frequency for a bit of volume though?
The rationale behind a full body routine is prety strong IMO. why hit chest extremely hard once a week when you can still hit it , but three times a week
>>39102218
>three times a week
That's exactly what I do. My routine is more or less based on Jesse Norris'
>>39102250
I dont know who that is, But I would think that I get more pushing volume in my routine opposed to just doing one push day per week.
routine related.
Monday:
>Snatch Grip High Pull: 4 x 5
>Squat: 4 x 8
>Overhead Press: 4 x 8
>W. Chinup: 4 x 6
>Cable Crossover: 3 x 15
>Barbell Curl: 3 x 10
>Hanging leg raise: 3 x 10
Wednesday:
>Deadlift: 5/3/1 + AMRAP set
>DB bench: 4 x 8
>Kroc Row: 4 x 8
>Lateral DB raise: 3 x 15
>Skullcrusher: 3 x 12
>Neck Curls: 3 x 20
Friday
>Power Clean: 5 x 3
>Push press: 5 x 3
>Pause Squat: 3 x 6
>Pullup: 4 x 10
>W. Dip: 4 x 10
>Hammer curl: 3 x 15
>Hanging Leg raise: 3 x 10
I do an upper lower split 4 days on, 3 days off.
I've tried 6 days on, 1 day off, full body, full body 5 times a week and the UL split works the best for me. The reason being is I get enough volume as well as decent fequency. Secondly if I feel like my arms are lagging I add in an arm day on one of the rest days.
where's the best place to add
1. tricep extensions
2. shrugs

seems pretty good. Not a fan of powerlifting personally but his routine seems alright, though a bit light on squats.
