Welcome to Home Gym General.
Post your home gyms, your dream gyms, your squat racks, your benches, and your cages.
I recently bought pic related for $400AUD, and was told its rated at 1000lbs(450kg) but from what I can tell (picking it up tomorrow) those safety bars look a bit weak/thin.
Do you guys think they could take a 3-4pl8 squat (eventually) and in general what do you think of the cage? It was advertised as semi-commercial, but I'd like to hear you opinions.
As always post anything to do with the topic.

i haven't picked it up yet, so the previous owner has them on backwards but I will fix it when I get it tomorrow. thanks man.
Used to have carpet, but my son left the hose on and flooded the basement. We got rubber floors installed a couple weeks ago. The weights are holding the curled edges down while the glue dries. The rubber rolls are expensive, so I got 3/4" horse stall mats for the floor. I mean the goal is to get big, right?

Rack and weight set were about $200 on craigslist. 2 each of 45's, 35's, 25's, 10's, and 2.5's. 4 each of 5's also. Bench was $20. Spent about $250 for the floor. Planning on getting another set of 45's soon. Pullup bar and maybe a bag are the next additions.
Hard to get a good picture of it since my patio is small and my rack takes up almost half of it. Not in picture: oly dumbells and an ezcurl bar

This might be slightly off topic but has anyone here tried dedicating a room solely for the purpose of sleep? Like just one room, with every possible accommodation for top-tier sleep. No windows, lots of ventilation, maybe a dedicated air conditioner etc. etc.
Gonna look into this because if you have a spare room available, this'd actually be pretty lit.
>>39097454
It's called a bedroom, Anon.
Most come equipped with beds, pillows, blankets those sort of things.
If you really splurge you can get an alarm to stop you over-sleeping, some shades to block light out, and maybe a book to read before bed.
How retarded are you that sleeping needs to be upgraded?
>>39097454
You mean like a bedroom, perhaps?
No, can't say I've had any experience.
>>39097360
OP here, has anyone got any advice on my question?
What are those safety rails made out of?
Are they capable of taking a dropped 3pl8 squat?
Was this a good deal for $400AUD?
Is this a good quality Power Cage?
>>39097477
By this, I mean the OP pic, not that pic ^

>those gay ass posters
>that tv for distraction
>that breakable window right near the rack
>that separate pull up bar instead of a power rack
it's a doozy.
>>39097376
why do people have rings or straps hanging in their power rack in so many pics, what is the purpose of them???
>>39097397
I mean I guess you don't need bumper plates now so thats a good thing. Start throwing weights all over the place.

I mean assuming those are solid steel rods they should be pretty strong, and I doubt they would be hollow because in that case they would be weak as fuck. They might bend but they shouldn't snap, I think it's more down to the shear strength of the steel between the holes, and assuming it's like 1.5 mil steel it ought to be pretty strong.
This is just speculation, depends on how exactly the bars fit in the rack. Obviously the only real way to test it would be to drop a bar off the hooks with a bunch of weight and see if it works, but this will fuck up your bar.
>>39097524
Thanks man, so you think it should be okay?
Other than the safeties, what do you think about the buy for $400AUD? Did I get a good deal?
Will it last me to 2/3/4/5 pl8s?
Is it well constructed or a crappy build?
>>39097370
This is what I imagine people who've never set up home gyms think home gyms look like.
>>39097502
The rings are for dips and rows probably
>>39097547
Dips I understand, kinda.
How would you row with them?
Also what are those straps that everyone seems to have on their power rack?
>>39097530
I'm not a powerrack/ Australia economy expert, so I don't really know if it's a good deal.
I figured out a way to test it would be to duct tape a bunch of steel plates together and drop them right on the safety and assess for damage. As long as your plates don't break you should be good.
I mean we can get into stress fracturing and shit but zyzz died in a sauna, you might die if your safeties fail, just go for it.
>>39097454
yes, ideally that would be a bedroom but since we've grown up our bedrooms have turned into somewhat of a 'place for you'
my goal is to buy a house, then everything will be just how I like it
>>39097574
From what I can gather from the person I am buying it off it is an older model of this:
https://www.worldfitness.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=2082
I don't know if that helps at all?
>>39097454
are you so stoned you forgot what a bedroom is?
>>39097590
i dunno shit about power racks but from that website i figured this much
>2.2mm thick steel frame
>chin up bar rated to 200kgs
>safeties support 1500lbs
>j hooks support 1000lbs
im guessing since the seller told you the safeties are 1000lbs rating, they probably are. its an older model so they probably just improved from that point in the next version.
thats about all i can say, anyone else wanna shed some light on this?
can anyone else shed any light on OP pics rack?
OP bumping for r8s on the pic in my first post, need to know if I did alright by my /fit/ family.

>>39098121
Two people has answered you pretty extensively, as long as those are original or you test them you are good. You shouldn't really plan on slamming weight on the safeties every day either unless you do rack pulls like a fag.
Just use it already, You are pretty lucky to get this much feedback about this rack.
>>39098292
No need to get snippy, mate. I'm OP and only one of the posters you quoted.
Thanks for the replies, but I'm allowed to bump my own thread. I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I can on my new buy.
No need to get your knickers in a knot.

In the UK and I have a £500 budget for a power rack and flat bench.
Could you recommend me any decent products?
I am a power lifter and will be benching upwards of 140kg. So the bench is really important.
Thinking of getting the strength shop £180 one
However I want a £120 flat bench and cheap £80 incline bench
Can't wait until I get my new job
Gonna by a full OLY set of bumper plates with all the colors of the rainbow
Can't get everything in one pic

Expensive equipment but not good equipment. Its low quality commercial equipment.
>>39097360
Currently have the CAP rack (left) for about $95.
Waiting on the Titan T-3 rack (right) with spotter arms (not in picture). Total cost was about $370.
Titan sent me the wrong rack, so now I have to deal with shipping it back (they said they will pay, but it will still be a hassle).
The build quality is solid for the price, they just need better shipping controls.
If you have a problem, use email.
I really wanted to by the squat rack Rep Fitness sells, but they only deliver M-F with signature required. Sucks.
>>39099917
There's a FB group i've heard is pretty good for second hand gear. Can't remember the exact name but it's something like 'powerlifting kit for sale'. Guaranteed if you've got any friends that compete they're probably in it.
>>39101287
I've heard of it too but I don't have a Facebook :(
Thnx tho
mine. not pictured: dip attachment for the rack and a preacher curl attachment for the bench.
what should i get next?
>>39100803
Jelly.?
>>39101309
Yes
>>39100754
having your own set of set weight dumbbells instead of adjustables is next level
inb4 floor, I dont deadlift and there are no other lifts that would damage the floor.
its been a year now and so far zero damage done, so there is that.
besides that I dont like to spend more than I need to. my setup seems kinda ghetto compared to what I see here from other people.
