if you're going to be doing pulls, at least make it look like you're doing a pull. If you can't keep your form because the weight is too heavy than you might as well not even do it

Squats are for pure strength, pulls are for strength in the pull. It's like doing wide stance lowbar squats to improve your strength out of the hole: it's not going to work

the difference between those two is that speed isn't necessary for those movements. Pulls are done to train the pull component of the lift. If you can't mimic or even come somewhat close to the speed that you actually pull with in the lift, then it's not really effective training. It's the reason why weightlifters dont train deadlift nearly as much as they squat or pull
