Go up to your gym owner and ask if they mind if you use their metal plates for oly lifting.

You pay to use their equipment PROPERLY. You don't just get to go use whatever you want for whatever you please. If you ask and they give permission, then fine.

You had to clarify that you were using metal plates and doing it after hours. Two red flags that make me think you were trying to get away with something that wouldn't fly during normal hours.

Every one of the lifters I know that consider themselves "O-lifters" all can barely squat 120 kg and can't bench, press, or DL shit. All they say is "technique is the most important" and think they'll get swole/strong from practicing cjs and snatches.

Yeah, maybe technique is important, but even if you have the world's best technique if you can't squat at least 180 kg you're a weak little shit. So maybe relegate the technical training to one or two times a week and the rest of the time just do a strength program and not be such DYEL little fucks.

I just started getting into oly, I wouldn't call myself an "oly lifter". I don't have access to very good equipment. I do say that the snatch and clean make a huge difference in the rate at which I build muscle which is why I started.

High bar squatting in general is a bit harsh on the knees due to the more vertical torso. This means that your hamstrings are short, such that they have lesser involvement than in the low bar variation. This lesser involvement means that there is greater knee sheer from the quads as the quads are strongly pulling from one side, but the hammies are not so strongly pulling from the other side.

That's why if you have knee trouble you should low bar. But as long as you keep good traction of the knees over the foot (unlike OP...)..you should probably be okay. If your knees start bugging you, consider the low bar variation.

I really don't like when people point to Klokov for advice on form. His anatomy is really peculiar and basing your own movement patterns on his will probably lead you to injure yourself. What is nice to notice about Klokov is his very controlled descent and explosive concentric phase. He is loading his whole leg in his descent, but his glutes in particular, and his knees track along their natural range of motion as a consequence of this. If you focus too much on what your knees are doing, you'll forget that you're actually supposed to be using your legs for this exercise, and end up straining your knees more than you already were before.

I don't have any recordings of myself and sorry, I meant push jerk. The best way I can describe it as a pinching pain when my left shoulder is fully extended with the barbell overhead. I thought it was a mobility issue and did plenty of stretches and warmups for it but it still hurt.

That's a Bulgarian stereotype, not Chinese. Chinese take kids with an interest in sports at a very early age and start placing them in dormitories, where they pin them with steroids, give them free food and housing and place them on a rigid routine. Chinese programming itself is very varied, they like to do some gymnastics training along with weightlifting and they do a lot of accessory work and squats.

It doesn't matter what kind of programming you really do though, all countries have their own way of doing it and still manage to get results.

Anyone misusing equipment is asking to get kicked out of the gym.

As a gym owner if I saw someone doing something stupid or harmful with my equipment, especially after hours like in anons case, then it would be a verbal warning and a termination of membership for a second offense. Because doing oly lifts, without oly equipment or space, after hours, with no one around, as a new inexperienced lifter is definitely safe and not a concern of a gym owner.

I've definitely never seen lifters snap elbows, dislocate shoulders, knock themselves out, or break glass while doing snatches.

Well, past few days squatting has been awkward.
Last night during sleep, positions were painful, when knee was straight .
I woke up and if I moved my right knee cap to the right it was painful. When j flexed my right leg/knee I feel pain.
The pain described above is located behind my knee cap for the most part.

it IS an overuse problem probably.

if patellar tracking is poor, the overuse is caused by lots of squats + poor tracking.

let knee rest, fix the tracking, ease back into deep knee bending movements, and it shouldnt bug you anymore.

if thays the case...

the timframe to dix patellar tracking is 2-3 weeks. but sweling of the knee inhibits the VmO (which does "good" for patellar tracking), so you cant keep beating up your knees while trying to fix patellar tracking

USA is obsessed with it now cos they realise it's the right route to take. Oscar Chaplin would've been much better if he had been in a Russian system where technique was made right before moving up in weight on his own admission.

USA has too many different coaching ideas. You can't honestly look at mash and cal strength and tell me USA is just obsessed with technique. When you first start you should absolutely concentrate on technique not pb's especially if you start with a significant background in strength training. It'll be much worse in the long run if you have to unlearn your power snatch that's all arms trust me
