How much do you barbell row (bent over, not pedlay)?
Haven't done barbell rows in ages, so I have no idea
I pause row 100lb dumbbells for 5 though
>>39011979
>pendlay row
>pen is on time
>>39011979
more than u
I don't do it because it always hurts my lower spine. I always film my form too and the shit never feels right in my spine.
Can't I just replace barbell rows with more deadlifts?
last time i did 205
Haven't tried bent over since I switched to pendlay rows, which I do for 82.5 kgs, 4x5. Perhaps next week I'll go for 85 kgs.
>>39012239
I agree feels awful every time I do it. What did you replace it with?
>>39012239
This.
My lower back hurts whenever I try to do them. I do pull ups instead
>>39011979
275X15. I bench 380, diddylift 550.
Which is superior bent over, pendlay row or both?
Or yates
>>39011979
I only do strict pendlays now, in supersets with bench pressing the same weight, but 3 months ago I did a bent over row session that went 60kgx10, 80kg x10, 100kg x8, 110kg x5, 120kg x 3, 130kg x 2 and 140 xF (one rep with body english, didn't touch the chest so it's a failed rep).
Right now I'm working on getting up to 6x8 with 110kg on the Pendlay/bench press supersets
(only up to 6x6 right now, my lower back is so weak, it's strained for 3 days after that).
>>39012523
not OP, but dumbell rows
>>39012239
>>39012523
>>39012558
I do them BECAUSE they strain my back. Using progressive overload from a babbyweight that did not hurt my back, I went up to serious weight that only gives me a monster pump in my lower back, which hurts like hell, but it's the pain that goes away if you rest properly.

>275X15. I bench 380, diddylift 550
How the fuck? Do you have some ungodly stamina or are your reps just sloppy as fuck?
I bench 330, deadlift 500 and my best with 275 is 5 fucking reps.
>>39011979
275 for a set of 3 while showing off to a gym friend. Did 1 rep w/ 315 but was ugly as shit with straps
>>39012801
I'd say it is a mixture of having a really strong grip, and stronger lats than pressing muscles. My pulling muscles are normally trained more than my pressing muscles too because I hit them for an equal amount of volume after bench work, then include them later in the week as deadlift assistance work.
A 275X15 row also puts me around a 405-ish max (which is obviously inflated because rep calculators are bullshit after about 12 reps) which is in the reasonable range for a 380 bench. If I had to max it'd probably be around the same as my bench.
>>39011979
>pendlay
175 5x5 with difficulty
>normal bent over
never tried beyond the same 175, but 175 feels like a fucking breeze
>>39011979
210lb x 5
more or less solid form
>>39011979
using a pronated, not mixed grip, for more than 8 reps ... no more than 85 kg, or it slips. No matter what
What's even the difference between regular rows and pendlay?
Does pendlay hit the lats harder?
>>39011979
Cable row is superior
>mfw people think barbell rows are superior.
M-muh barbell means its better right guys?
Yes Timmy, lets limit our ability to work the target muscles by putting an irrelevant muscle group under considerable strain so it impacts the overall performance.
HELP!
I can't bent over row that puts tension on my back, only on my arms... May it have something to do with my upper crossed syndrome?
>>39014178
who the fuck uses mixed grip in rows? Is that even possible?
>>39014507
I've seen pronated, supinated AND mixed grips
I never use mixed grips anyway so it's not really my business
>>39012141
ebin
>>39011979
I'm up to 85kg for 7 reps. Apart from the press bent over row is my favorite lift.
>>39011979
275x5 I do them in pyramid sets on deadlift day.
>>39011979
165lbs 8x3, but I do them with an underhanded grip because of wrist problems.
>>39011979
a mere 40lbs, been lifting for 2 weeks now
>>39012730
Your back progress would be loads better if you used a bit of englisj to do more reps
>>39014954
do you mean The Press?
>>39014365
DB rows are too awkward on the supporting arm/shoulder to move heavy weight
don't even think about mentioning machines
>>39014365
Dyel
>>39011979
I thought you were supposed to bend over more if you could.
>>39012239
This for me too. DB rows are superior.
>>39011979
But Pendlay rows are bent over...
>>39014970
>pyramid sets
useless (unless you're trying to raise your basal metabolism on a cut, and only if paired with zero-rest)(besides that, it's an utterly useless complication)
>>39015509
Pullups mane
>>39015491
do YOU mean The Press™?
>>39011979
110lb dead stop dumbbell row x5
225 barbell row strict x5
My back strength is all right I suppose but I have such shitty OHP and bench.
130 pounds x 3 sets of 10 reps
