What does /fit/ think about Spirulina? I just discovered it and it is said that it has 60% protein. Is that true?
>>
Yes now try and buy enough quantity to get your daily intake of protein
>>
>>39000489
>39000489

It costs up to 30x as much as dairy or meat protein per gram and is not a viable primary protein source for this reason.
>>
>>39000481
if I take Spirulina solely to meet my daily requirement of 250g of protein, will I die?
>>
>>39000489
better yet, post a vid of you trying to eat more than a few grams of it at once.
>>
>>39000481
If I removed the water content and ground the steak into a fine powder I'd get 70 protons per 100g as well

Might as well just chug a shake
>>

Studies say no

>>39000481
>steak doesn't have animal fats for test boost or naturally occurring creatine or the amino acids plants don't have

Shill your vegan bullshit elsewhere hippie, I'll take my steak rare while you watch me and weep for "those who cannot speak."
>>
>>39000510

It might be extremely painful

Small problem: Look at the SODIUM in it.
Also: Tastes like SHIT, even if you can put it in something else.. but all that sodium? Anything you put it in would end up tasting very salty.

Also, check the cost.
Also, you can get steak (or chicken, or even fish) anywhere. Spirulina? Not as easy.

I'll take the sirloin steak any day. Enjoying eating is at least as important as the nutritional value.

Oh, and also: There are substances in red meat that are very beneficial to humans, especially humans who are trying to gain strength and muscle mass, and you won't find those substances in anything plant based.

..oh, and also: you can overdose on iron. Eating lots of something that has that much iron in it? Not a good idea.
>>
>>39000481
spirulina is $10 a pound
>>
>>39000510
You'd get a minimum of 158*2.5=395% of recommended daily iron, which would likely become very toxic to you in a very short period of time.
>>
>>39000526
i pop a tablespoon of it into a smoothie or protein shake each day. that's around 10g, but i agree on your point that using it as a main source isn't really viable. it's just another supplement. i use it for the vitamins/minerals/amino acids. it's not ridiculously expensive as i buy it in bulk and not in capsules.
>>
>>39000620
>There are substances in red meat that are very beneficial to humans
Are there such substances in fish?
I want to switch for fish for the upcoming months since I found some fillet on the cheap.

Not OP obviously
>>
>>39000668
I'm not sure about that. I'd suggest you research both.

Not the not OP guy but I just want to know what do I have to search.

100g = 27fl oz or ~1/5 gallon liquefied spinach

Man, 250g or brotein does not require you to take spirulina... 3 scoops of whey brotein, 1 chicken titty, bitta fish, cottage cheese, beans, nuts and you will hit 250g for 2000kcal daily.
>>
not even vegans mention spirulina as a source of protein. irony or stupidity? you be the judge

I hit 350/150/75 most of the time when on maintenance. Hitting 175/30/20 on a cut now.

I've kept myself to 135/10/5 today even.

>>39000556

Not entirely untrue
>>
>>39000481
Woa... So youre saying... That if i ate 57g of meat.. id get the same amount... Of protein....woa
>>
>>39000620
>you can overdose on iron
Hemochromatosis, for those who don't know what this is.

It killed my grandfather, will kill me too if my cancer doesn't return before I'm 70.
>>
Spirulina smoothie:
Avo
low fat greek yogurt
protein power
pineapple juice
>>
>>39000668
Red meats have creatine and similar in them, thats why they have been muscle bulk food and not chicken or tuna. Also try to get fresh meat, processed meats ussually increase chance for cancer
>>
what about broccoli guise
never knew it has protein in it
