i usually stay awake way too long looking at a screen, when i feel that i finally can sleep i play a columbo episode(not one from the 70s, the music is fkn horrible as shit) on low volume or an episode of hitb. then i pray i can slip into sweet unconciousness before any thoughts of her can manifest.

I get in bed and close my eyes until I wake up again to the hard reality of existence

I lay down on my pillow top mattress, get a back rub from my wife, turn on Netflix, and lay there until I drift off to sleep. I'm usually out by 10:30 or 11.

I enable SunsetScreen on my PC one hour before going to bed. I take 2.5mg mirtazapine and 2mg melatonin before going to bed. I turn off all the lights and set my phone screen to redshifted and low brightness. In bed I listen to quiet relaxing music while reading on my phone for 30-45min. When I start nodding off, I put on my sleep mask and start trying to fall asleep.

I've never been able to fall asleep at the same time each day and sleep a full 8-9 hours without doing all this. In the past, falling asleep took me 1-2 hours on a normal day and was only faster when I was sleep deprived from previous days of taking so long to fall asleep.
