Is there a stupider or more dangerous sport than this?
It's no fucking wonder it has the most injuries of like any other sport except for football
>Flinging 200kg+ over your head
>Safe
Good sources for more information on the injury rate?
well first of all that's not 200 kg, .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of all weightlifters will ever snatch 160+ kgs
also
>most injuries
more like least injuries

>It's no fucking wonder it has the most injuries of like any other sport
except thats not true
and its easy to bail

The dangerous part isn't even dropping it on your spine you idiot
It's the stress on your shoulders and knees.
>>38989931
show me a retired weightlifter with fucked up shoulders and knees
protip: you cant
>>38989940
Are you kidding
People regularly tear labrums, rotator cuffs, etc... Every Olympics there's always at least a couple people who even sustain horrific injuries
>>38989975
>horrific injuries
Examples? Not questioning, just curious.

Ah jeez. Google did not disappoint.
>>38989975
the only things that have happend are elbow dislocations and that only because the athletes push their 100% limit with weights literally no one will ever lift
>>38990020
Except Olympic weightlifters...
>>38990030
will you ever lift weights at your physical limit? nope youre just another dyel
>>38990020
You're either delusional or just dumb.
If PROFESSIONALS, at the Olympic level, with world-class trainers, experience and hella roids + GH get these injuries, what makes you think some random chump won't?
>crossfit
>total amateurs trying to recreate what actual oly lifters have been safely training for years
>>38990059
>Safely
Go on starting strength forums or any olympic lifting forums. Injuries are ridiculously commonplace

3/10, well memed.

Beta fag
In actual fact, a frequently cited study had weightlifting one of the safest sports with 0.0017 injuries per 100,000 hours of participation. Track and field had 0.570.
>>38988910
You ever played some kind of team sport? Like handball, football, volleyball, hockey? They are all much more dangerous
People seem to constantly forget just how many assholes hurt themselves fucking around at a regular gym doing d-bag shit. Because oly lifting has gained a lot of traction recently l of a sudden it's dangerous. Ever heard of a power lifter who didn't tear something? Doesn't exist. Football players in the NFL last on average 2 years because they get too fucked up to continue and wind up with long term issues
cheerleading has the most injuries per person
>inb4 not a sport

Nice Starting Strength quote. However, that applies to freeweight training, not Olympic weightlifting.
Is it dumb to buy weightlifting shoes on eBay? If not, does anyone know anywhere with affordable shoes that ships to Ireland?
Also, are Go Win or More Mile up to the job?
I've only been Olympic lifting for 1.5 months, if that's relevant.

rounding that technically no weightlifters lift over 160 then, just letting u kno homeslice
