Happened to me a few days ago while I was running. It hurts directly outside of the knee, like if it was pulling.
What should I do?

Are you running on your midfoot/forefoot or on your heels? If you are running on your heels its mostly like the reason

Midfoot. I did a few years of track and field so technique is not an issue.

Foam roll outside of thigh at angle that hurts the right amount.
switch to toe strike
Run more
