5x3 is pretty good when you have shit grip for death-lifts.
If I do 5x5 my grip will always give out in the fourth of fifth set but If I only do three reps I can go heavier and not worry about grip.

More volume could mean more muscle gains. But it's harder to progress on 5x5.
You could do 5x5 until you stall and go to 3x5

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter. Just pick one or do both

SL program changes to 5x3 once you deload 3x on the same weight.
5x5 is more volume but you can't physically do it if the weights are feeling heavy like they're supposed to

Who gives a shit. You're not going to be able to linearly progress very long anyway and at some stage you'll have to increase volume rather than decrease it. Just do enough work to progress and steadily increase that amount of work over time i.e years, and that's basically all there is. Arguing over 3x5 vs 5x5 is pointless because the difference is only going to matter for a maybe a few months when you're still a dyel and even then it's not very important.

It's not. The idea with deadlifts is that it's very easy to overdo them in terms of both muscular and cns recovery, also as fatigue sets in during a deadlift session form slips and risk of injury increases. 1x5 is supposed to be enough stimulus to progress for a while for a beginner so it gets recommended. Personally I'd do 5x3 over 3x5. Better to have 15 solid reps done than 10-12 good ones and a few grinders at the end of every set.
