These men are on the right track. We have been socially conditioned, influenced by our culture to such an extent that humans have forgotten who they are and live in a LITERAL fantasy world.
This fantasy world is generated entirely inside of your brain and is, as the name suggests, disconnected from reality. Egocentrism is the root of MANY of the problems of contemporary times. But no one wants to talk about this because once you bring up the word "ego" suddenly you're a dirty hippy and a new-age mystic.

On the surface you can see how you would think this but it has more to do with sociologists like Edward Bernays and his works that have created the 'ideals' people live and strive for.
Really the hyper egotistical society we live in is merely what we all carry inside of us anyway, but amplified to the extreme due to higher more dense population, technology like social media and also more importantly movies and television defining principle behaviours and desires.
