I have come to the conclusion that being more upright in the pull up puts you in a position where its harder to pull which I think is because there is less back involvement which puts more stress on the biceps.
So how would one do a pull up to use their back the most?
>retract scapula
>lean back
>push your chest out as you pull up
So knowing this wouldn't staying upright and going to a deadhang each time put more stress on the biceps? From my experience at least whenever I do pull ups while keeping my spine vertical I feel like the limiting muscles are my biceps not my back. Also the best way to do this would be to stay in an L-sit position while doing your pull ups because it will force you to keep your body vertical.
Don't just retract scapula but retract in the right time.

Forgot to say:
>I do pull ups while keeping my spine vertical I feel like the limiting muscles are my biceps not my back.
I had the exactly same problem last year and I'll repeat the advice they gave me that really worked. Just keep doing the pull ups and the biceps will catch up.
I know you are asking how to use most of the back but anyway if you have a problem with your biceps keep doing L-pulls and one day the biceps will stop lagging. Today I can do the 5x5 L-pulls.

No what I am asking is how to use the most bicep. I really dont like doing curls and would rather just hit my biceps with compounds.

So this would be a pull up that has the most back involvement correct? so would this pull up have more bicep involvement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHdD5Ksdnmk

Why not just do chin ups as well? I alternate, chin ups one session pull ups the next.

This. The fuck are you trying to isolate biceps in pullups when chinups directly targets them sumbitches?

Chin ups are primairly a back exercises.

So are pullups.
You'll never be able to make pullups use more biceps than chin-ups. That's just the nature of how the biceps work (ie barely, if the arm isn't supinated).

Ok so would the L-sit technique work for chin ups?
>>38839672
Maybe. But I wouldn't think so. The biceps can't really take over the lats job, being too upright would be moving more of the work onto the upper back from the lats rather than putting it on the biceps.

Thanks.
