Before I lost all my weight a couple years ago, I had obviously bad knees from being fat, the tendon on the inside of my knee always seems to almost, for lack of a better description "pop out" when I do squats/leg press/deadlift, it's so painful to the point where my entire knee hurts.
Now, I've managed to lose all my weight never doing any of those exercises, and my legs look fine because I do leg extensions, leg curls, stiff legged deadlifts and my cardio consists of alternating between the stair machine and treadmill for an hour (20 minute intervals), and while I don't mind these things, because I look great, /fit/ likes to make the whole "If you don't do deads and squats you're not gonna make it" stuff like that. I've been to my GP and he's not really given me a straight answer, he pratically changed the subject when I explained this to him, do you have any idea what could be wrong with them? It's definately not the front of my knees that hurt, its the tendon at the back, if I wear knee braces, it just shoots a sharp pain all the way up to my back... Sorry for the wall of text.

I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth and pretty bad neuropathy in my feet. Now it's developing in my hands with both burning and lack of sensation. I'm also dropping things. Should I stop lifting free weights and switch to a machine or am I just being overly cautious? Also, long term will I lose more muscle tone at the same rate I work out?
