But that's what I've been doing for the last 2 weeks.

I'm running a bench routine that sabre/SSB were saying I should do and it just happens to be double volume over what I was doing before.

Why not try different things to see what works well?

Didn't you get great results on sheiko? Then you decided to switch program because some anons didn't like your squat form, then you switched bench programming because Sabre/SSB told you to.

I'm not saying you shouldn't experiment, but /plg/ will meme about 5 different things in a month, and most of those things are good but for a limited amount of people. You need to ignore most of those things or implement any changes slowly because if you just switch it up all the time you're not gonna learn what works long-term for you, or you're gonna cuck yourself out of gains by not doing what you know works for you.
>>
>>38794766
I only scored a 22 on that quiz though.
>>
>>38794763
I keep hearing bad things about them. I'm about to drop £430 on stren shop equipment, I don't want to get it, have it rust, bend and be generally shit.
>>
>>38794769
I didn't run sheiko for bench and I was stalling on my previous bench programming. I think my upper body mass is lagging far behind my lower, so slamming it with volume is a good idea.

My squat form was bad enough to be concerned. Back rounding at 90%+ is not a good thing. Alex suggested trying SSB squatting for a while to strengthen my upper back and get better at staying upright. I'm still doing sheiko for deadlift.
>>
>>38794802
On paper the bar is the same spec as the texas bar. The knurl will not rust anytime soon and is sharp

Good stuff is powdercoated, wreck the coating and you expose the metal which will rust

Look after your stuff and it will be fine

Wouldn't back rounding come from weak quads, like when you straighten your legs really fast to shift the load onto the back and hammies thus causing a good morning squat?

Rounding your back will let you get everything closer to the center and get your ass in a higher position, thus making the movement more dependant on your ass/back than quads, would it not?
>>
>>38795115
Yes, literally only americans don't know this.
>>
>>38795115
This is true but a lot of people here refuse to believe it

When nearing failure you will find the most mechanically advantageous position, losing your upper back would be a back strength issue though

Ok, so it's like I thought then. I get confused because there's so many different opinions on here. Thank you.

>>38795164
>When nearing failure you will find the most mechanically advantageous position, losing your upper back would be a back strength issue though
Why? Is it because upper back doesn't contribute to spinal movement as much as the lower back?
>>
>>38795194

Check ur bully at the door
>>
No its because upper back rounding in the squat will be due to weak thoracic extension as there is no advantage to it like in deadlifts, it would just pitch you forward and your lumbar would probably end up rounding anyway
>>
>>38795077
yes it only makes sense
you could do something like that on a back ext. bench with a bar, it may be safer and allow you to go heavier, because there is not the same potential for compressive force on the spine on a back ext bench, its basically the same movement though.
>>
Will I die if I do WL technique practice + mobility, instead of cardio + mobility, on my rest days?

>>38795253
no it could very well interfere with recovery less than cardio depending on the intensity of "WL technique practice" and cardio

15 sets of bar work is peanuts compared to e.g. HIIT (the real gains killer)

but if youre loading up 90% of max clean and jerk for "technique practice" and your cardio is walking for half an hour slowly.... you get the picture.

its a lot easier to recover from the olympic lifts than from slow lifts (e g. heavg squat and DL) anyway.
>>
>>38795253
depends what you mean by "WL technique practice"

If it's anything remotely 'heavy' then you're on a good track to getting injured

>>
>>38795287
>>38795292
No, no. Of course I will keep it light. Maybe not just the bar, but 40-50kg. Normally my cardio is spinning bike for 20-30 min. Feels like my knees will take less of a beating doing light WL though.

>>38795310
Not sure if I want to make a complete switch or not yet.

I've been doing Power cleans in my regular program. While doing so I figured I could just as well add some split jerks. Could not go super heavy due to poor technique, was a long time since I did any of the lifts.

Figured I might as well sneak in some practice instead of doing cardio, while still getting in my normal lifting.

How are stiff belts better than softer belts?
Stiff belts don't fit round you perfectly like softer belts that mould around your mid section.

As well I've noticed no difference in bracing.
A stiffer belt just hurts and gives me no extra benefits.

Im not doing it ironically I just have short arms and cant unrack by myself without ruining my starting position(shitty arch), so i use a narrower width. Sucks training alone i guess. Also im lazy and not doing any work to fix my arch. The wrap part is debatable. Does it really add any kg to your bench?
>>
>>38796567
>The wrap part is debatable. Does it really add any kg to your bench?
It doesn't help you like a slingshot or how knee wraps help in a squat, but it makes my wrist not hurt and I can handle doing more lowbar squats and more benching because of it. It doesn't give you kgs on the bar but it makes your training more efficient if your wrists are bothering you.

I've built one for my sister, but it wasn't a serious PL style gym, just squat/bench/deadlift/accessories area.

If you're the guy who was asking about Strength Shop before, I've found their hardware to be just as good as any other powerlifting stuff, the shoddiness is just their clothing and stuff that moves. Like belts, they are fine when you first get them, in fact as mentioned above the softness was actually a good thing, as I bought my wife a first belt, and didn't want her getting cut up by an Inzer Forever. It's just after a year or so of regular use, especially in a sweaty environment, the material gets really floppy. The belt itself (lever) started buckling at the lever when I tried to close it, so I upgraded to Inzer. The lever too, seems prone to breaking.

Most of the 'good' stuff I've bought is from oversees. Sabo shoes from US, Inzer belt from Germany, trying to find a Texas DL bar to mess around with, but the price of getting one here just isn't worth it.
>>
>>38796646
Had to deal with those kind of benches this summer. My arms were 99% straightened when I would start unracking. My solution was to lie down close to the bar, raise my ass as much as I could and unrack by pushing the bar up while driving as hard as I could with my feet. Basically I created an overexaggerated arch so I would be in a stronger position to unrack.
>>
>>
>>38796684
How are you?
>>
>>38796646

I think Isley recommends unracking with hips raised , which might help.
>>
>>38796646
Im working on it by unracking with my ass up and closer to the pins. But i bench in a shitty power rack and its hard to find some proper cues to repeat it every time without sliding back and hitting the pins on the way up.

Hehe, yeah, I've seen the video and have been doing so myself. Honestly, the problem is not so much unracking ity, it's re-racking. Lifting my ass I can get it out without messing up my setup too much, but then when you just got done with a hard ass set, push the bar back only to hit the pins...

I was only going back and forth with my shoulder getting messed up due to this, so I've narrowed my grip again. It's how I used to bench and I'm quite used to it. Feels like I've never been able to give max grip a proper try though. Nowadays I'm also always benching alone with no power rack available...

>>
>>38796824
What does your warm up do to help you arch your thoracic spine and not lumbar? I made a video for Saber a while ago and I can share it with you if you're curious
>>
>>38796894
I've suggested it before, might be time to again. They have started investing in quite a lot of stuff lately. Finally getting a lot of Eleiko bars, eleiko dumbbells, sadly not Eleiko weights yet. Recently turned a squash hall into a "functional training hall" with more Eleiko bars and some kind of Eleiko power-rack-jungle-gym hybrid.
Sweden yes.

Hopefully new benches can come next. It's not like it's some niche lift, it's a popular thing everyone does, so I don't understand why they aren't getting new ones.

Though the form is pretty similar if standing, i use a ssb so the camber shifts the weight back, plus you need to sit right back, negative shin angle, so the weight doesnt end up as far in front as you might think

Should I do some high rep front squats after deadlifts on muh 4-day texas method? After switching to high bar I noticed that I recover a lot quicker. Was thinking of something like:
A: Squats 3x5
B: Front Squat 3x3
C: Squat 1x3 then drop 6-9% and do 3x3
D: Deadlift 1x4,3 or 5, drop 6-9% and do 2-3x3, front squat 3x6
Is this alright or will I fuck myself up? I stick to RPE 9 on ID and go from 8 to 9 on VD

Make sure you know recursion and programming logic in general. First there is a basic personality type thing then I know there are two different assessments. One is a basic intelligence test and the other is programming. I did the programming one online through proctor U with someone watching through my webcam to make sure i didn't cheat, kek, and had the general intelligence one during my in person interview. The programming should be fairly easy if you have a background in comp sci, but if not it's pretty difficult. There was a multiple choice section that was ezpz with 20 questions and I was positive I got them all, then an open ended one with 4 problems that are much harder where you have to write code. I got 3 completely and the fourth for the specific example they provided, but didn't get a general solution for the fourth in time.

If you're confident in your basic programming ability the best advice I can give is just make sure you're well rested and not too nervous. Good luck, anon! Let me know how it goes.

>>38799204

Well the point was that low bar squats have significant quad involvement, as demonstrated by my ability to FS a good amount relative to my squat without training it. It's true that the lower back angle is more advantageous to the hamstrings and thus deemphasizes the quads a bit compared to a high bar squat. But ultimately you're low baring more weight and it's mostly a non-issue.

And if you're actually concerned about it, throw in a FS day for some extra work.

But I think if you just concentrate on getting your squat strong, decent quads will follow.

and it was from pullups, right?

My left pec got tweaked last monday during them and it's still kind of tender. feels okay lowering the bar but the initial drive off the chest hurts and it's gotten really tight, manifesting as shoulder pain during squats

Yep

Bench can make my pec sore, but pullups consistenty make my pecs so bad that I cant work through it.

Had to ditch em, a pity since I love pullups.
