I use to shave it, until one time, I got a ingrown hair from the shaving, then I had to dig it out, caused scaring, and now I have a scar on my chest because of it. Waxing causes the same potential issues.
I just trim now, with an electric trimmer. You don't get ingrown hairs that way.
