Speaking to a coach today (he's coached at international comps) and he recommended keeping my technical lifts in the 70-75% range, and pushing some strength work and bodybuilding and mobility

Bit of background; I'm 30, inflexible, oly lifting seriously for 9months, casually for a few months before that. Numbers aren't great but have made a lot of improvement but still struggle catching lifts low

What does owg think? Sounds similar to what pas always says, which is interesting cos the coach spoke about the Chinese and the approach they take
>>
>>38708126
that's what you'd do if your tech sux
>>
Just started oly lifting about a month ago under an international level coach. Very experienced guy, but I have not really been doing any bodybuilding-esque strength work while I am working on my form for things. Should I add this in on top of things he recommends for me?

My pull is ok in snatch and clean but I catch high in snatch and timing is off in clean leading to inconsistent reps. So I'd probably benefit from a block of training like this?

it's pretty usual in periodized training

yes. for a long, long time. until you basically never miss below 90%. basically you should miss a snatch around once a month. keep getting stronger that whole time.

How much bodybuilding / conditioning work should I be doing in addition to my weightlifting training?

I have a well-respected coach who has me training for movement and mobility currently, as I just started oly lifting ~1mo ago and need a lot of work in those areas.

But he doesn't prescribe a lot of additional work, and I feel that it's up to me to decide how I manage that, but I'm not sure how.

Add direct chest work (e.g. bench) 1x/week, with assistance work (pushups) 1x/week? Bi's/Tri's 1x/week? Abdominal work 2 or 3x/week?

And for conditioning, would doing sprints and jumps 3x/week work? Currently training 6days/week for oly lifting.
