Busy with school/work this week?

20 straight weeks of AMRAP started to get to me. I did a volume calculation and sheiko bench has 25% more volume than what I was doing, so I think I'm going to switch. It'll be nice to not go to RPE 9.5+ every week on bench for a change.

>>38685343
Depends on the cut. Inzers are basically bootyshorts.

SBDs and Titans are pretty long. But they have to be short enough to allow knee sleeves and wraps without contact with the suit. If they have to be bunched up then there is a chance that the bunched up material can obscure the hip crease and make refs more likely to call you on depth. This is also why the IPF doesn't allow underwear with a leg.

the number one worst if definitely injury, that shit can sideline you for months or even put you into bench only class

but for me personally it's diet, I keep just forgetting to eat enough, some days, especially weekends I'll just relax and not think about it, and then suddenly it's 11pm and I've only eaten 1600 calories. especially now I'm doing a lot more cardio, this is starting to have an actual noticeable impact on progress.

injuries, assuming you only workout at 90% effort you are still moving forward at 90% pace. After 10 weeks you are 1 week ahead of the guy who worked out at 100% then got injured for 2 weeks.

Over your training career this could mean potentially years of training lost.

Which is why i have my lifts inflated by 5/10kg on sheiko.

So what do you guys in /plg/ recommend for someone wanting to get stronger in the squat/press/bench/deadlift after running SS for a couple months? I didn't run SS all the way out because I'm slowly recomping (started while overweight).

I'm not looking to compete, just wanna keep training and getting stronger. I was thinking 5/3/1 and BBB, using Wendlers plan for changing the BBB sets as you progress-- starting at 5x10@50%, then 5x5@80%, 5x3@90%, 5x1@TM.

It's in the book so it shouldn't be completely retarded or keep me from getting my gains, right?

>>

>>
>>38686676
Program hopping generally doesn't refer to switching programs in an intelligent manner, it refers to people bouncing around without giving things a chance or seeing them through with no real thought given to the matter.
>>
>>38686676
>What exactly is bad about program hopping, long term?
It creates the habit of blaming the program when other more important factors may be the culprit for stalled progress.

It also leads to the never-ending search for the "BEST" program, when the best program is often the one you need at the moment.
>>
>>38686477
I still don't see what you have against Sheiko. I think if you run the Sheiko intended for your skill level, use actual maxes, and get enough sleep/food it's a great program.

>>38686740
6-9 months ago I thought I wasn't making progress because my programming was shit. I realized it was because I wasn't eating enough food and then progress started happening pretty steadily again.

>I still don't see what you have against Sheiko

Sheiko might be the "best" PL program for end-game lifters.

My issue is that once you run it, there isn't much of anything "better" unless you write it yourself or hire a coach.

There are a lot of fun, steady, well-rounded options that will yield great results. Sheiko is the end. The omega. The finale for the natural lifter that is out of options. The grind. Ad infinitum.

>>38686823
I understand that, but there are different variations of Sheiko for different training ages. The intermediate medium load I did was actually fairly easy. Three 2-hour workouts a week isn't crazy at all in my opinion and I actually had a lot of fun doing it. Maybe it's just because I'm kind of autistic and like doing the same thing a lot, but I'm really looking forward to next cycle and so on. And when progress slows there are a ton of more advanced Sheiko cycles I can switch to.

Chick-Fil-A's tenders are always greasy as shit. KFC's are too but at least they have the decency to have a thick crunchy breading as opposed to the soft, limp dick breading Chick-Fil-A uses.

The only advantage Chick-Fil-A has is unique flavor. Not even better flavor, just different.

you are having a sweet beverage

dont half ass it because MUH HEALTHY DRINK

you're not there to drink something healthy you are there to enjoy it

I find pop, and other most other overly sweetened things disgusting. I like the taste of a little bit of sugar in my tea, but not much. I also like the taste of tea unsweetened, but I prefer it with a little bit of sugar.

I find it odd that you of all people don't understand that taste is subjective.

it's more of an outline. I can give you the jist of it, or at least tell you how I'm rolling with it. coach spotochev might be around too if you have any other questions. he's a bit more familiar with it than I am
>bench 4 times per week, 2 are slingshot, 2 are spoto press
>each workout is 5 working sets up to RPE 9
>add 10 lbs per workout
>reset when the reps get down to 5 sets of only 1
>start with a weight that you can do ezpz for 5x15
>do close grip 3 sets of RPE 8'ish on slingshot day, adding 10lbs per workout
>squat and deadlifts do whatever you want.

I'm doing 5x5 squats on the spoto days, adding 10lbs per week, and for deadlifts I'm trying to not have them look like such shit, so I'm doing like 3x5 at something pretty light relative to my max on one of the slingshot days
add in whatever accessory stuff you want

here is one of my squat sets from today if anyone cares. was initially just looking for how my depth is, but ended up noticing that I lean forward on the way up. gonna have to do something about that.

oh ok, my slingshot is gonna be getting there pretty damn soon here. my plan for that was to go back and do the workouts where my slingshot was close to what I think I'll get for spoto press that week, so like if I think I'll get sets for like 6 next week, I'll slingshot whatever weight I did for about that many reps, just to keep them somewhere close.

Anyway thats ok advice for a first time novice, but so much more goes into it.

A jump stance is the best way to generate force from very minimal hip and knee flexion. A deadlift has far more of both, and you have to deal with mechanical limitations called arms. Those fucking noodles always get in the way of your knees.

You could potentially get the best out of very narrow stance with feet turned out a la Lamar Grant or go full sumo toes at the plates. Or it could actually be your jumping stance. It really depends on hip structure. The only rule of thumb is "whatever works and doesn't injure you"

Everyone sees that at first, adds them in, realises that

>>
>>38690601

What. I had huge increases on sheiko when I did it and I was pretty weak.

I had a 160/100/160 squat/bench/dead, ran one of the 3days, did 175/110/180, ran it again and did 185/115/195.

Those are pretty good gains. I wouldn't call it a shit program.

>>
>>38690650

You guys are so fucking vague on who it's for and not for.

It's just a lifting program. It has high volume at adequate intensity. It's going to make nearly anyone that works hard at it get stronger.

>>
>>38690614

>>
>>38690688
I'll be explicit

Sheiko isn't for new lifters who are making gains easily but want to make gains faster.

It's for experienced lifters who require the ultra specificity to make gains again.

Typically, experienced = strong, new = weak which is why we say "sheiko isn't for weak people" when really it's not for new people. Unless they're literally that much of a dead end.

That's fair. Though, do be honest, I feel like well designed, phasic programs will produce gains in almost anyone. I've since gone and done 220/140/240 from 160/100/160 and I've only ever run sheiko style programs or a linear periodization (ed coan) programs.

They're both well designed and have consistently given me gains. I feel like the programs that don't do that are the weird ones that get perpetuated a lot on here, especially some of the shittier intermediates, such as texas method.
>>
>>38690761

Elaborating slightly - well designed programs have phases to them, so that each phase of the program is a different stressor than the previous phase. When you find a well designed program, you can just run it over and over - each phase is different from the previous phase, so you never really adapt to it. Especially if you build your programs off your 1rm. As your 1rm increases, so does the stressor given by the program.

I think people need to find the good programs like that and just latch on to it

TM is just a variation on Starr's H/M/L and can be tweaked in many ways and various multiple week cycles can be run.The word you're looking for is "macrocycle" and TM does have one, it's just autoregulatory instead of fixed like Sheiko. Sheiko's various programs are harder to fuck up (unless you're Isley and think you know better than Boris how his program should be run) if you just plug numbers in and run them. TM on the other hand requires you to know at least somewhat how you respond to training and when to push and when to stop. Honestly it's probably something if you're completely clueless that should be run with a coach.

>I'll be explicit

>It's for experienced lifters who require the ultra specificity to make gains again

This.

Think of it this way nerds: (keep in mind that I haven't played a video game in half) a decade...

Running sheiko if you don't need to = grinding the final dungeon in a MMORPG as a new gamer.

Sure, it's fun at first. And it's the best way to get the top loot. But at some point you're going to wonder, am I having fun anymore? Do I even like video gaming?

Sheiko is the end game. And once you've trained this way, you're not going to be satisfied with the lack of progress of training any other way. And there's a high chance that you might not play the game very long if all you're doing is playing the last level over and over again.

Isley I just saw you posting in that arab politics group on facebook, small world lad. (I'm not an arab though)
>>
>>38691150

My friend introduced me to it a few days ago

It's so fun to troll arabs.

Also it's like looking into an alternate universe where everyone on pol is a muslim. Love it.

Clearly didn't know how to use my trip on this mobile. I am old as dirt covered in older dirt.

Ye it's very strange. It's probably what browsing /pol/ is like if you weren't white.

Holy shit I literally just watched that movie. Good quote imo

>sheiko is the end game. And once you've trained this way, you're not going to be satisfied with the lack of progress of training any other way.

Are you implying that once I run sheiko, no other program is going to work for me?

I started running sheiko because I was sick of the no gains. I don't know of that many programs and the ones I do were either stupidly hard (RPE 10 erryday c6w) or stupidly stupid (28 free having you do 3x1 at like 80% and that's it for a WEEK).

Sheiko looks like a solid program thats almost guaranteed to give you some progress on your lifts, maybe not a lot of progress but I'm sure most here would agree they'd rather a guaranteed 5kg increase on their lifts rather than a possible 10kg increase.

Why wouldn't they? He got rid of kurds(all arabs hate kurds) and the only other alternative they have known is Murrica bombing the shit out of them and letting ISIS take the country.

147.5
Also, your qt is inferior
>>
>>38691267
What the FUCK did you mean by this
>>
>>38691328
Do 140 for one as your last set before maxing out and see how many more kgs you think you can squeeze out. 150 is probably a realistic goal.
>>
>>38691328
You won't get any weight above 145 unless it's using microplates.
>>
>>38691328
147.5 is a definite, 150 is a maybe
