Barbells or dumbbells, /fit/?
barbell no doubt. im a big fan of dumbbells, but, when it comes down to having limited resources and supplies, getting a barbell and a few plates will have you set for a long time.

I'm a gigolo. Just ask your mom.

dumbbells are better for bench press

Barbell + weights, you don't need more for SL program for example. Why don't you get barbells aswell though? They cost like 5 bucks and you can use the same weights with it
Depends on your abillity to use them. If you are not flexible enough to do barbell exercises buying one makes no sense at this point.
Consider a pull up bar, dip stands, Hexbar with plates, weight belt for additional restistance, rings to use on pull up bar for rows
Tell us about your available space and your budget. Can put things in your wall or dou you live in ami paper houses ?

Pretty limited for both. Realistically, I'm going for a single dumbbell, which I'll swap between arms.
I just want to hear if there's a major reason to prefer a barbell, or if dumbbells are somehow ineffective or unhealthy. I may as well be from Mars as far as my knowledge on exercise equipment goes.
