It's dead boring there. You get about 4 nights a week which are organised by the student union ie. Club nights, they literally repeat the same thing over and over again. Otherwise you got pub crawls, which are nice.

The uni is more than an hour away from London, only reason why we are called uni of London, is due to a small building there which is owned by us.

Get your gym membership before the 21st september, they are hiking up the prices. the gym has 3 platforms, a bench rack and dumbbells up to 50kg. the rest is just the basic equip and machines. Get the gold membership, the others are not worth the price. For cardio, go down to Virginia waters.

Definitely join a sports club. The chicks are hot af here.

Also join a non sports society, eg photography.

Otherwise, life is slow at royal Holloway. Btw, you starting on campus? AVOID KINGSWOOD, it's a shithole.

Most importantly the best chicken shop at Holloway is called Runnymede chicken, get menu 10 for £3.79. Best value for money and taste. Still pissed that they hooked the price up by 29 pence though. Also do your shipping at wait rose, much better service and better value for money due to quality.

Hmmm I find wait rose, to be slighty better than tesco. Sure they are a little priced a little bit higher, but you do get better shit, sometimes it works out to be cheaper as well. I would usually recommend lidl and aldi, but none are close to the uni. You have the option of going to lidl via train about £4 with return and a 10 minute ride to Feltham, the lidl is next door to the station. There is also Sainsbury in staines which is quite nice as well. Alcohol wise go to ruby wines - best price you will get there. Unless you got a car and drive to Costco.

Gym is pretty great. 8 squat rax, tons of cardio machines, lots of weights.

Just come early in the morning. I usually wake up at 5 Tuesday Friday Sunday, bike there and reach roundabout 6:30 am on weekdays. Weekends come at around 9.

Don't come while students have classes unless you want to wait 30 minutes for DYELs to finish talking to each other and leave.

Protip if you look up 'Mattamy Athletic Center' on google it shows you the on/off peak times for every weekday.

Not gonna lie never been to a gym in town, got gold membership this year and last year, made the most of it, If you're looking to join a spots soc it may be mandatory since some of them use the gyms. The sports centre gym is super good, imo, free weights area downstairs is decent, there's a smaller one upstairs too, there's a powerlifting and squat area so there's plenty of racks. If you end up getting membership just pay the extra for gold since silver's a bit trash that you have to schedule for specific times, gets busy af 5 - 7ish in the evenings during term time
