The real answer is: keeping moderately fit, being really attractive, good genetics.

>>
>>38556731
>genetics
stop this meme, it's not relevant for fatties and it's not directly relevant here.
Diet, sleep, sunscreen, healthy habits (no smoking/drinking). Sure, having a darker skin will help. And it seems that restricting meats helps too (more probably, you've better to test and check which food is good for you; different genes lead to different intolerance. Here the genes play indirectly a role)

Btw, my nephew (uncle, not granpda) had to test for food intolerances and I did it with her. She's intolerant to a bunch of things, I'm not intolerant to anything but I found out that - for me - some foods are better than others (some kinds of meat and few veggies are more than 20% "incompatible" with my type). Changing your diet accordingly would likely stress the body a lot less

>>38556919
>I think this is a reason why southern europeans look older than nordic people
actually, it's the opposite. If we're talking of first-world med populations who use sunscreen and expose to the sun gradually. "Nordics" will ruin their skin way easier than swarthy people.
Also "staying away from the sun" is nuts. Sun is good, and sunbathing for at least 30 minutes will boost your vitamin d. "Nordics" tend to expose a lot and avoid solar noon, when they should do the opposite. UVA is more dangerous than UVB, and the solar radiation is almost exclusively UVA when the sun is below 45~50° on the horizon.
Just use a sunscreen for face, hands, shoulder and neck but you should sunbath next to noon without any further sunscreen. For 10 minutes to 40, depending on the season and on your skin type. When the sun is low on the horizon (e.g. from 16:00 in the afternoon) you could and should use a *broad spectrum* SPF, since it's almost UVA.

>I go at like at 4PM
absolutely and utterly worthless, if you're living in the northern hemisphere. Even in med countries sun (at solar noon) barely reaches 54° above the horizon. AT SOLAR NOON.
You're sunbathing with pure UVA, that means that you're not sunbathing at all and you're getting only the less valuable of the solar radiation.
At 16 you should not care about the sunbathing in this pre-autumnal season.

Portugal is in the northern hemisphere. It's north of the equator.
Assuming you're in Lisbon (pretty southern)
you're still in a pretty good season
on the 3rd of September the Sun will reach a maximum of 58.5° above the horizon at 13:36
30 minutes tanning around that hour will actually tan you
At 4PM the sun is at 45° above the horizon, meaning that it's all UVA. You just damage your skin, there's no decent amount of UVB. Just use an high broad spectrum SPF and be done with it.

Obviously these calculations (about the best time of the day to get some UVB) may change if you live up in the northern region of Portugal. There are apps for smartphones and the like that will tell you the solar noon and the azimuth at your exact coordinates.

>I make sure I don't get red/burned
Obviously you aren't getting burned at 4PM, see >>38557241
but you're just damaging your skin without realizing it for the simple fact that you're not burning it, given the lack of UVB once the sun is low on the horizon
50° is the "generally accepted" trade-off angle
>>
>>38560491
JUST
>>
>>38560508
I actually live in the deep south

what are you studying mate?
so below 45-50 horizon I should avoid tanning and instead use high protection sunscreens ?
>>
>>38560786
>>38560551
>>38560508

asking this stupid questions since this is all new to me

so tomorrow at 11:37am I have 50º, at 13:32 I have 60º and 50º at 15:30
this means I should tan(without a sunscreen or low spf) between 11:37am to 15:30? , correct?
trying to understand if I understood, and it's important since next year I'll spend basically all of the summer at the beach
>>
>>38560786
50° is the "generally accepted" trade-off angle
meaning that it's worth exposing yourself only if you're (possibly slightly) ABOVE, not around that angle
when the sun is low on the horizon almost no UVB reaches you, but you'll get all the UVA
10 minutes at 75° *without any SPF* would be god-tier
SPF does one thing only: it deflects UVB. If the sunscreen is broad spectrum, it will deflect UVA too. This doesn't mean that you're "not damaging" your skin, you're just prolonging your maximum exposure before your "burning point". UVB are the rays you're craving for, and you want to stop before the "burning point". You also want to get how many UVB you can whilst getting as few UVA you can. If you use a SPF of 6, you'll multiply by 6 your maximum exposure. E.g. if you burn in 10 minutes at solar noon, you'll burn in 60 minutes with a SPF rated 6. At 4PM with the sun at 45° you won't burn at all with or without SPF. And no, using sunscreen won't "tan" you more.
One thing you could do, whilst exposing directly to the sun for 10~20~30 minutes at solar noon, is using some hydrating non-SPF lotion. There are some good ones with Aloe Vera. In this way, you'll retain your skin hydrated during your exposure.
Otherwise, EU-produced Nivea is fine too.

>what are you studying
totally unrelated field, but I'm mildly autist when I investigate issues
And I investigated this one I while ago

>>38560874
the best would be just 10~20~30~40 minutes (according to your skin type and your current tan) around solar noon. If you can't at solar noon, definitively between 12 and 15. Use some Aloe Vera or Nivea with no SPF for your body, and some broad spectrum for sensible areas (face/neck/hands/shoulder)
For the rest of the day, you could and should a high broad spectrum SPF rated 15+ on all of your body
>>
>>38560902
>you could and should a
*you could and should use a
>>
>>38560902
https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/portugal/albufeira
solar noon here is only at 60º doesnt go higher
this means its GOAT to tan at 60º right? from 13:04 to 13:54 it shows 60º and then starts to drop so I should make use of that time line to tan?

noticed that in the last day of the month the solar noon is at 49º, it means tan season is over right.

so if I want to stay at the beach during times where its below 50º I should go for a uva and uvb sunscreen with strong spf? I have one that says it protects both and also has 50 spf
I use for my face one that has both uva/uvb and its 30spf

fuck me if being tired and trying to understand this is giving me steam, feel dumb.

>>
>>38560980
you're lucky you still have a bretty gud sun in september ^^
yes, solar noon is at 13:32 with a peak of 60.4° and with minimal variations between 13:00 and 14:00; if you can it would be better to tan in that hour
you'll actually get the UVB, responsible for burning (if you exaggerate) but also for vitamin d and melanin production, whilst minimizing the UVA/UVB ratio
if you already know that you'll likely burn in 60 minutes without SPF, expose for 40 minutes, maybe using an hydrating non-spf lotion as a sidekick

>noticed that in the last day of the month the solar noon is at 49º, it means tan season is over right.
right

>so if I want to stay at the beach during times where its below 50º I should go for a uva and uvb sunscreen with strong spf?
exactly, sun at 45° is actually worthless and just ageing

>50SPF and 30SPF
they are, de facto, the same. You won't expose to UVA or UVB for 30 nor 50 hours consecutively; and for sure you won't expose for 30 or 50 hours at *solar-noon grade* sun. That's why usually 15 SPF is "good enough" for everyone and it's already "high protection". Above that limit, it's all marketing gimmick
You should always use a broad spectrum lotion; it does not sense to deflect UVB and allow UVA; you'd just allow your skin to age and deperish without even realizing it because you're deflecting UVB.

(assuming you burn in 60 minutes, in that post I'm assuming since the beginning that your "burning point" at 60° - even if you burn in, say, 30 minutes or 15 minutes, 30 or 50 SPF are still insanely high)

also calorie restriction high in (not in proteins) (not in carbs) (but in) fats

better if monounsaturated and non hydrogenated obviously

anyway, you stress the body a lot with gym and training, so IMHO the best thing you could do is: sleep consistently & at fixed hours, don't drink or smoke, lower your stress in other sectors of your life (don't overdo gym if you're studying for an exam or if you're too working too much next to a deadline) (maybe even meditate a little if that suits you), eat a varied diet compatible with you and your goals. Any A list celebrity above the age of 40 has regular procedures. I can guarantee you they get regular botox, fillers, facelifts, along with other numerous smaller cosmetic procedures. Female more than male celebs. Corrective plastic surgery is rarer than preventive (anti aging) surgery. Some younger (20 y.o.) celebs, especially pop stars, get surgery as well.

It's an open secret in Hollywood and no one will admit to it but either Hollywood is full of insanely attractive people with godlike youthful genetics or it's full of rich people with money and access to top plastic surgeons.
