Not op, but I didn't choose not to. Circumstances made it so. The opportunities didn't present themselves. By the time they did, I was too much of a wreck (bullying, bad parenting) to take advantage. I'm much better now, but those opportunities are very scarce now.

I was and still am living with my parents. I had never been and still have never been to a pub or party or club. Not that I knew the word normie at the time, but I knew that I couldn't relate to normies. I was extremely quiet at all the icebreaker events for my subject.

I had zero interest in my course and automatically going to my local university meant I didn't go to one I was capable of due to my school grades (even this year I read about people with worse grades than me being accepted to Oxford, imperial, LSE etc.). This added to my resentment and idea that I was surrounded by the same normies I couldn't relate to at school. I really resented the idea that I was not filtered away from them and at imperial / UCL etc.

I had some people who were friendly with me because I knew them from school but only in the first few years in a few courses and although I sometimes sat with them in classes, and sometimes talked to them a bit, I would get paranoid that they disliked me so I chose not to sit with them at all. Obviously I had nothing to talk to them about.
