When are you considered strong by normie standards?
>>
probably 1/2/3/4 for 1rm.
>>
>>38517407
Really? I always thought it would be a bit less. The other day I was burning out on bench with 135, and this group of teenage boys came up to me looking really amazed
>>
>>38517427
No one thinks 1pl8 bench is strong unless you're a chick, sorry anon.
>>
>>38517457
(t. 1pl8 bencher ;_;)
>>
>normie standards
Who gives a fuck. Normies don't go to the gym, they don't care about being strong.
>>
>>38517457
Op here, My max is a little less than lmao2pl8, I know it's not impressive, but normie a seem to think so
>>
>>38517457

Or potato
>>
>>38517427
well they're teenagers.
>>
>>38517383
When you can OHP Stacy for a couple of reps.
>>
>>38517567
Standard Stacey? That's 5'7" 112lbs right?
>>
>>38517383
By norms... 2pl8 bench, 3 pl8 squat, 4pl8 deadlift.
>>
A bit under 1234. People are amazed when you tell them you rep 250lb squats
>>
>>38517383
0.75/1.5/2/2.
>>
>>38517659
LOL kinda right actually
>>
>>38517659
Lmao at 2pl8 deadlift

>He thinks you need to 1/2/3/4 to impress normies

In the gym that will be enough to impress some people, but as far as normies go numbers don't mean anything. As long as you can pick up something considered "heavy" like a large tv, box, or something then they'll be impressed.
>>
>>38517407
No. 1/2/3/4 for at least 5 reps each otherwise you would call me strong.
>>
>>38518714
Seriously. I picked up a 50lb love seat to make room for a girl and she gasped and started feeling me up.
>>
>>38517659
>>38517701
KEK IM STRONG BY NORMIE STANDARDS
LOOK MUM
IVE MADE IT
>>
>>38518867
But literally any DYEL could do that
>>
>>38518886
exactly. its just about moving things effortlessly. doesnt really matter how heavy it is, just so long as you make it look easy. just tied into confidence as usual.
>>
Normies (esp girls) have no idea what 100lb vs 200lb vs 300lb feels like. Sure, they have a vague notion that 300lb is 50% heavier than 200lb but they don't know what that is.

It's the same as a guy whose max deadlift is 3plate, looking at someone doing 5 vs 6 plates. Sure, 6 is heavier but they can't intuitively know what it feels like.

So that said, any weight past a certain standard (probably 1/2/3) is impressive to them, regardless of how much more you can do.
>>
>>38518886
I'm maybe exadurating a bit at 50lb. It's a pretty light couch though.
>>
>>38518947

200 + 200*0.5 = 300
>>
>>38519076
lmao can't tell if serious... one half of 300 is 150
>>
>>38518947
It depends on what they've seen before though. In some gyms there are a few guys who squat 400lbs, therefore if you go there and squat 225lbs effortlessly it won't impress them that much, however if there's no one who squats heavy there then lmao2plate to depth is often enough to make people go "whoa", kek.
>>
>>38519090
are you legitimately retarded anon?
>>
>>38519032
50% heavier is the equivalent of saying 150% as heavy. You probably shouldn't try and correct people's grammar if English isn't your first language.
>>
>>38519090
300lbs is 150% of 200lbs, meaning 50% heavier.
>>
>>38519108
>>38519118
>>38519137
50% of 300 lbs (pro tip: it's plural if there's more than one) is half that number, which is one hundred and fifty. When u subtract that your left with the other 150, so it's 50% heavier than 150 lb.
>>
>>38517407
>literally anybody caring about squats and deadlifts in the normal world
>>
>>38519169
300lbs is 100% heavier than 150lbs though.
>>
>>38519169
Yup. It's retarded.
>>
>>38519103
Dude was talking about normies, you're talking about impressing novice gym goers. Normies don't know shit about squats.
>>
>>38519169
anon your extra chromosome is showing
>>
>>38519193
No 300 lb is 100% heavier than 0. 0 is 0% heavier.

>>38519201
Let's see your math degree buddy.

>>
>>38519169
me mum's a calc professor if that counts

you're fucking retarded anon
>>
>>38519169
50% of 200lbs is 100. When you add that to 200 you get 300. Ergo 300 is 50% heavier than 200 lbs.
>>
>>38517621

American Stacey. 5'10" 190 lbs.
>>
>>38519255
>falling for le epic math trolls
>>
>>38517728
Normies have shit form and just end up catbacking, so 2 pl8 is a lot.
>>
>>38519219
It's a BSc. But we use math pretty consistently.
>>
>>38519229

So I guess it's true /fit/ is just a bunch of dumb meatheads. Let me try to explain this to u again.

0.5 (FIFTY percent) x 300 =150 okay......
0.66 (repeating) x 300 = 200
Meaning it's 0.66(repeating)% heavier, not 50

>>38519253
>you're

I am a fucking retarded. Nice.
>>
>>38519266
...no. Falling for epic math trolls would mean allowing your shitty math to fool me into making an error. Telling somebody they are wrong while they are shitposting and pretending to be retarded is normal behaviour.
>>
>>38519188
When you mention them and the weight you move it impresses them because they don't understand it.
>>
I'm a 5'8 70kg dyel manlet and ive gotten mires with 1 plate ohp, 2 plate bench and 3 plate deadlift even though i'm weak af, it depends on your gym senpai, some gyms are just full of weak people.
>>
>>38519321
Yup, you're fucking retarded. Not because I think you actually believe your own bullshit but because you think you have any chance of tricking anyone. You're just shitposting and embarrassing yourself.
>>
>>38519090

If you have any significant muscle build, you are probably ahead of 90% of the population, assuming you are in the US.

Oh so if I increase 0lbs by 100% I'll get 300lbs? Gotcha.
>>
>>38519514
You'll also get 301lbs. Math is neat.
>>
>>38517407

No, 1/2/3/4 means five reps.

Yeah.

idk probs after you can bench 3 plat
then I tell them they can't even do 100 push ups in
a row and they're silent
>>
I impress normies a fuck ton with a 4.5 plate highbar squat, but my bench, which is 280lbs, doesn't really impress anyone. I think that to impress normies you need:
3 plate bench
3 plate squat
3 plate deadlift

>>

No. You're not strong.
>>
I'm at about .9/1.8/2.5/3 and my normie Chad gymbro thinks I'm super strong. He likes to take Snapchat videos of me when I squat over 225 lbs.
I don't even look that good either but people say I look like a swimmer. I'll post a body pic in a sec.
>>
>>38517383
Normies do not care about pounds, you're considered strong if you can do the following:

>one armed pushups
>one armed chinups/pullups
>handstand pushups

according to my friends, literally if you can do a pullup
>>
>>38524541
That makes sense
I always thought the base standards were 1/1.5/2
bench, squat, dead-lift (bodyweight to lift ratio)

Thanks Mate
>>
>>38524589

For most people, those will be broadly similar numbers. Both standards break down hard when you get people much larger or smaller than the average.
>>
>>38517383
When people ask you to help them move on the 31st-1st
>>
>>38517383
>When are you considered strong by normie standards?

when you have to use your dip belt while doing pushdowns
>>
>>38517383
People kept thinking I looked strong when at 155 I could bench my body weight, squat 1.5x it and dl twice it.

Same people said I was getting too big and it was ugly to girls when I could finally bench 205 and squat 315 at 170.

I'm not even where I want to be and I thought that was fucking stupid of them.
>>
>>38517407
For bench and OHP i would say 1/2 for reps the rest is 1rm
>>
>>38517383
When you can carry household objects without running out of breath or getting red in the face. It also helps if you're the strongest person in your household or whatever group you're in at the time.

Source is I'm just a humble recovering fat who carries in the air-conditioners and carries them back out to the shed every year and does all other "heavy" lifting when required. I'm certainly not strong by /fit/ standards, but friends and family seem to think I am. All these people who think you need specific numbers are kidding themselves.

As far as normie's standards are concerned, the bar for strength is pretty fucking low. So it's your job to lift it, senpai.
>>
>all these people falling for this idiots math meme
>>
3/4/5/6

t. normie at 2/3/4/5
>>
>>38517383
Bodyweight exercise are a sure way to impress people sincce they are more relatable.I suggest human flag and handstand pushup to impress the crowd(or even a single hand chin ups)
