Cranky mods and fat old men edition

The best part about having a spine made of grass and wet cement is the fact that after hurting it, it will only build back stronger.

Eventually it will take a sledgehammer to break this thing.
>>
>>38451926
Lol, injured?

You should take an "off season" meme and fix your shit. You need a foundation to build upon.

Good luck.

Way ahead of you, basically all I'm doing right now is reverse hypers, planks, side planks and bench :)

IMO seasons are the best way to get stronger.

You should spend 9-10 months running ONE program, programming hopping is a waste of time, and then spend 2-3 months for active recovery aka bodybuilding,

The human body can't not take constant heady loads for years straight.
Took me 2 years of never missing a session to fmsu

Reasons why Izzy's programme is uniquely good.

>has six distinct stages each with more volume
>slowly increases work capacity
>introduces RPE
>balenced lower/upper volume
>focussed specifically on powerlifting

There really aren't that many programmes that will take you from novice to advanced intermediate with gradual steps -- each with more volume than the last.

I've only completed 2 stages (PNP1 and 2) but my lifts have gone from:

120 - 155 - 180
70 - 85 - 102.5
150 - 190 - 225
BW: 88 - 90 - 93

Yes 180kg is usually easy for adult men, more so when you pull from just below the knee and lockout at the knee

> bulging discs

I have had 3 for 20 yrs.
I started doing this
https://youtu.be/TsazIJqJE84 for about 30 minutes every morning watching TV. Then after talking with Louie Simmons around 1999 along started reverse hypers. Nothing but pain free lifts and elite totals since then.
>>
>>38452454
Neither can Isley or anyone here other than Fil :^)
>>
>>38452481
you havent learnt the injured ways yet, passed down from cripple to cripple, friend
we need to live vicariously though the uninjured
>>
The SLDLs felt ridiculously easy by the 4th and last set. I was expecting to hit @8, but hit @7.5 instead, maybe even @7.

Rows were even more of a breeze.
>>
>>38452491
Thanks for the video mayne, any and all help is appreciated it.
Reverse hypers are a staple of my programming and forever will be, but I gotta admit I get a lot of pain relief from planks, albeit temporary pain relief, but I imagine as I become strong at planks this pain relief will be more permanent.

I'll definitely give this a go.

>>38452510
My mentality is, if I have to be a cripple then so does every body else :)

Being a cripple early on in my training career means I'm going to pull 400kg one day, that's how it works right, your spine gets stronger cause it adapts from being broken, right?

One thing for sure is, I've learnt to really appreciate my core, bracing and belts. I thought I was so cool for not using a belt and just inflating my stomach like a stupid balloon.

>>
>>38453219
I was bullying someone ssry. The issue is very obvious, you lack the leverages for a food bench off the bat so you need to work hard for some bigger muscles.

Bench 3x a week IMO. I bench like 3-5x a week and press's 3x a week. As long as your form is food you might avoid tendinitis, maybe...

I'm doing sheiko for bench only, doesn't add a lot to the bench but it's very consistent and builds a muscular base.

I think I did get it as shown in the picture. It's to parallel and I think it would pass in a PL competition. And I explained, I was afraid of failing at the lower setting at the weight. The next peg down is low enough that my back angle has to change if I fail, a potentially very dangerous thing at 220.

90kg is your max now? I recon you can get to 110kg your first sheiko cycle, then 130kg, then 150kg. 60 in 9 months sound fair? This is all speculation though to be fair. Don't get injured, take a deload week or two after each cycle if you really need it in my opinion.

Progression is fairly slow, so use the time to worry about form more than weight on the bar. A beautiful lift is worth a lot.

I add whatever I think I can handle. My lift increase by however much they increase. At the moment, while going up a weightclass, we're talking 10 on the squat, 15 on the bench, 7.5 or so on the deadlift. That's how much my true maxes increase by.

Sheiko is hard enough that only people for whom powerlifting really, really matters should do it.

It's not fun, it's boring, repetitive, burns you out psychologically. But it'll make you better than many other programs. But this trade off is ONLY worth it if it'll reward you with competition goals.

It's hard for strong people. Esmeralda has a fair 260 wilks, it won't be particularly difficult to run MEDIUM load. I think she should run the novice program however, which AFAIK is more generalised.

Take 3 weeks off squats and deads.
Come back to gym monday,go with 5x5 light squats.Practically no pain where it used to hurt.
Do bench, come back for 5x5 light sumo deadlifts and kill my back again.

Erector pain is a bitch, hyperextending a lot or just rotating my torso the the sides hurts like a mf.
I have no clue on what could be the cause,I was actually pretty sure squats were the problem.
I have been doing the stretches that McGill suggests, working on fixing my APT and smashing glutes/erector with lacrosse balls.
After 30 minutes on a fucking ball I managed to be pain free for a minute, two tops.

I just want to squat and deadlift pain free to start an hypertrophy block.

It's a typical novice thing to do. They're still young and love lifting. This can make them overstretch themselves which can lead to a crash and burn.
It's just like the posts of "omg a rest day what will I do ;-;"

Iktf bro

I'm so ancy since I don test maxes for another 1.5 months. I may increase maxes by 5-10lbs when I start #30

It just feels stressful since I have no clue how much stronger I'm getting and have no clue whatsoever how 100-105% will feel on skills test day
>>
>>38455101
I agree with both of you tbqh. Also, Isley, what do you think of Cuckols' beginner programs?
>>
>>38455137
Don't make big decisions in plg shit post hour.
Your choices aren't limited to 5/3/1 or sheiko, remember that also.

Just run Marcos 5x5. I LOVED that program. Absolute dog shit for bench tho. Really gotta do a lot of accessories.

If he's a genetic dead end and still made it near 400 wilks, that must mean he knows what he's doing, right?

>>38455137
The volume on Sheiko has been great for my form. However if you don't have a way to get feedback (a coach, recording yourself to see what's wrong with your form, etc) then the volume might not help it.

>>38455166
My squat skills test is 2 weeks from today (I'm running medium load, so it's split up) and I'm pretty excited, but kind of nervous. I'm worried I'll be too fatigued and not PR on it and want to kms.

B-but Alex and Joe tell me to kms a lot..

Just to correct you, I have zero Wilks score. So we essentially have the same credentials, not that it matters.

One more minor correction, I'm not fat anymore. Ugly? Saggy man boobs? Sure, but not so much fat.

Getting strong isn't for self worth, it's for self improvement and health.

Adapting to hit volume, consistently improving form and having consistent gains is FAR more valuable than and training like its a race to come last in worlds lol

for you maybe, but I have just as much fun when I hit lifetime PRs in the gym as when I hit them on the platform. I just like the competition atmosphere.

and tBh, I don't really like lifting in front of people very much. like at school, I would be one of the stronger ones in the gym and people would ask me what to do to squat more or something and I would always spaghetti all over, or like when family etc tells me gj on lifting and whatever, I always get physically uncomfortable. really just don't like attention and stuff.

but yeah, for some people maybe, but for others, hitting PRs is hitting PRs, regardless

The squat and deadlift. You might make bench gains but you need muscles girl.
You're not going to get a definitive answer here, everybody and their grand mother has their own opinions on training, NONE of them are right or wrong, they are all individualised and subjective to constant change.

Do what makes you happy.

Madcow 5x5
Texas method
5/3/1
Sheiko
Powerlifting 2 win
Rts generalised intermediate program

There's lots, you just gotta explore your opportunities and compare them on your own.

That wasnt me

I ran sheiko for much longer than a year, 6 sheiko cycles, some squat only, some with them all

I ran sheiko before any other trip
>inb4 buda

No buda didnt run sheiko, he's so retarded he ran it in order of the numbers meaning he ran the competition block inbetween the two volume blocks like the stupid moron he is

>oblivious to its flaws like a fanatic

I dont even run sheiko anymore lol
>>
>>38455205
I have coach who checks me and I know what good form feels like, so it's really about getting into the groove. That's where volume comes in

FUCKING THIS. In my experience the best athletes ALMOST NEVER make the best coaches. I'm more inclined to listen to someone like Isley than I am to Brett Gibbs.

>>
>>38455314
Jesus that's bad for 10 years

>>38455311
Well here's how:

you don't have to be a very good coach to be better than you are as a lifter. If she'd said bencher, that'd be a compliment. But she didn't. But maybe the distinction is lost on her.
>>
>>38455320
Almost as bad as buda

both pathetic losers

Strong correlation to that and being outspoken with retarded opinions and ideas

I don't think Brett Gibbs isn't a good powerlifter. But being a good athlete doesn't make you a good coach. In most cases their talent allows them to coast or not have to develop as deep of an understanding of things. I've had these people take me aside and slip me a piece of paper with Prelipins' Table on it like they were handing me the keys to the Library of Alexandria. Someone who has had to grind out and stress over every little detail in order to eek out 2.5kg PRs at a time is more likely to have better insight.

The best coaches are often painfully mediocre athletes.
>>
Holy FUCK are pin squats shit.

>>38455369
>I don't think Brett Gibbs isn't a good powerlifter. But being a good athlete doesn't make you a good coach

Im not debating any of this, in fact I agree with this

Im simply saying isley is neither a good lifter or coach

>>
>>38455277
the best athletes got away with increasing weight beyond what is reasonable progression for an individual

the best athletes got away with poor training techniques to being naturally less injury prone

the best athletes probably made good progress with even poor programming as a beginner, by pure virtue of being so naturally inclined

they'll view what they did as perfect, and often disagree with valid criticisms because of their "why aren't you no1 while I am" cocksure attitudes
