As a guy who lost his virginity at 16 and have had a number of girlfriends and romances I gotta say that sex isn't the important thing you've been missing out on. It's the relationships. When you're a teenager you're playing adult, trying to drink, having sex, fooling around, having girlfriends etc. You experience love, you experience betrayal, you get sad, you get happy, you realize you can't live together with the one who was your entire world a couple of months ago. By doing this you mature in your romantic/emotional life.

If you miss out on this entirely, you're gonna be as emotionally immature as a teenager when you do get into your first romantic relationship. This is highly likely to be devastating when things get a bit difficult, because you don't know what to do or how to feel. You will have a really hard time working out problems or dealing with a break-up. Virginity doesn't fucking matter, but emotional maturity is a vital life skill unless you plan to live your entire life without any romantic partner.
