This. It's easier on your wrists and elbow joints than a straight bar. I got really painful tendonitis doing straight bar curls. Switched to an EZ bar and it has been ok thankfully. Though I did read somewhere it doesn't hit the bicep quite as well as straight bar.

Yeah I noticed. I try to make up for the fact it gets hit less by bar curls, by increasing the volume through also doing dumbbell curl drop sets, & chin ups.

Your elbows and wrists hurt less because you aren't using them to curl the weight. Instead, it's your biceps doing the work.
If you're using other muscles while curling, you're distributing the tension incorrectly.
