He didn't even say anything contrary to SS besides the soundbite issue. "Past parallel" is the standard for the sport in which squatting is a competition movement. Hell, rippe even specifically addresses hip morphology in SS. They aren't contrary to each other.
Also it's hard to judge femur length from the side in a 2D drawing because rippe wants you squatting with knees out a bit instead of forward (take that for what you will)

I think the point of his videos is , that everyone is different and the movement has to be catered to the individual. Makes perfect sense to me.
ITT: no one has read starting strength. Rippetoe uses illustrations to explain the general criteria for a correct squat. He does not say you have to look exactly like the illustration.
