So i've been trying out the 5x5 routine for a few months now, and i feel like its a pretty simple yet effective way of training for strength. What does /fit/ think about this routine? Any tips on how to get more from the 5x5 routine by adding other complementary lifts?
I usually do dips on bench press day and curls on the ohp one.
Btw I'm using the 5x5 Stronglift (official?) app, pretty easy to use and it has some nice tracking (graphs and history).

How far have you gotten doing just 5x5? (Stats)
(OP) Stats are:
Squat: 60 Kg
Deadlift: 70 Kg
Bench: 40 Kg
OHP: 40 Kg
Kind of a DYEL here, would like to know how far i could actually get doing 5x5

Started 7 months ago, was really skelly (23yo, 193cm, 74kg), now 79kg, but still skinny (being ecto sucks).
Squat: 30kg (lol) -> 100kg
Deadlift: 60kg -> 150kg
Bench: 30kg -> 70kg
OHP: 20kg -> 50kg

Wow that's some good progress! Also, has your physique improved since then? Aesthetically speaking.

Yes, clothes were pretty loose on me before, now everything seems to be fitting a lot better. Also much more luck with girls at parties :).
Though gonna start bulking so will need to use looser clothing again :D

Good stuff! You could probably start cycling in some higher-rep routines if you're gonna bulk up

You can stay on it for YEARS my skinny nigga. When you deload enough it (the app) will tell you to do 3x5 eventually, but after it has told you to increase your weight from 5lbs per sesh to 2.5lbs per session

Dont listen to this """""""man""""""""

Brotip: ecto/meso/endo is super broscience. A lot of new lifters fall into believing this meme. Stop speaking in those terms or you'll sound like an idiot when talking to anyone that's not an idiot.
The whole idea of somatotypes were created by W.H. Sheldon, who was a PSYCHOLOGIST. It was basically an excuse for him to categorize people he generally didn't like into archetypes, e.g. a fat person is dumb and lazy because GENETICS, so there's no way to help them thus he doesn't have to like them EVER. So believing in somatotypes is about as dumb as HAES/SJW/feminist retardism.
I want to add chin-ups and curls to my SL 5x5 routine (now 3x5 really) in hopes of improving my pathetic arms. My current lifts are
A day:
115kg Squat
75kg Bench :-( :-( :-(
80kg Rows
B day:
115kg Squat
47.5kg OHP
150kg DL
Should I add chins to A and curls to B, or vice-versa?
Im starting 5x5 on september 5th, hope it works well. I plan on adding one extra day for abs+shrugs+forearms, and maybe a cardio day
