Read up on stoicism in general and then listen to episode 67 of the history of philosophy without any gaps podcast. It's a good overview that touches on some major themes in his work.

Having a background of plato and aristotle is always helpful, so if you havent read them I'd recommend it, or at least watch some youtube videos or listen to some podcasts to get a general feel of what they're about.

The meditations were basically journal/diary entries from aurelius while on his military campaigns, particularly closer to the end of his life. he's just writing down all the shit he learned throughout his life and addresses common philosophical questions and his interpretationand/or application of them.

Get good at reading body language and eye contact. You'll be able to save yourself a lot of trouble just by knowing who you've got a shot with and people who just aren't attracted to you no matter what you say or do.

For conversations I have found lots of success with situational/observational openers and "threading"/staying on opening topic.

And for what it's worth I've seen more men get shot down by women just by opening their mouth. If I had to guess they come off like an annoying sales man and they're not interested in anything they have to offer. Nothing you say or do is going to turn someone on who just isn't attracted to you nor will you become attracted to an obese woman no matter how much money she will drop on you. So this ties back in with get good at reading body language and eye contact.

Practice by looking in a mirror and try communicating different signals with your eyes and facial expression. It doesn't have to be outrageous... people tend to pick up on very slight queues (such as a smirk or when you squint your eyes)

I personally like holding eye contact to see what type of feedback/expression they will respond back to me with. A great way to create an intimate feeling... it's as if everything else melts away in the world when you lock eyes with someone and the two of you become lost in each other's eyes.

You can play around with this by smiling at people, nodding, winking, rolling your eyes

Princess Diane had excellent body language and eye contact. Notice how she lowers her head slightly while looking up? There is a lot to be said with what she is communicating here...

Can't say I agree with all that shit, but I'm doing about 80% of that list consistently now and I've never felt better.

I'd suggest trying out an instrument, guitar is really easy to pick up. I've played it on and off for years and am now trying to continually challenge myself with more and more difficult classical pieces/shredding techniques. Piano is really easy to pick up as well with a lot of online resources.

Oh and try out a skincare routine/cold showers. Just 2-3 minutes of it at the end of a normally warm shower. Shuts down the libido for a bit which helps with no fap and gets your ass out of the shower quicker.

I enjoy MGS, and think its convoluted storylines get too much flak. There are a lot of interesting concepts there, and MGS2 predicted so much about the current state of information flow that it's uncanny.

But you know what Kojima does? He reads. He reads and he watches films religiously. In interviews he attributes all of the unique and eclectic themes/concepts in his games to what he's read in books, science mags, and films.

I recall him saying something like "I don't have a lot of time, so I can only read about 1-2 books a week."

Video games will at best have to strike a balance between gameplay and communicated ideas. I believe they can communicate ideas in a unique fashion that merits vidya as being a form of art, but it is still a compromise. Kojima reads all the fucking time, he's not playing vidya all the time.

If you're going through Feynman's lectures, you should be jotting down notes and doing problems as you go along.
If you're learning Calculus/Diff. Equations/ect, you should be thinking of how to prove theorems and practicing problems.
Same for books on drawing, programming, ect.

It's even the same for history; write what you've learned on a piece of paper and act like you're going to have teach it to someone soon.

A few of the examples and stories he told were entertaining and helped put the principles in perspective but for the most part you could skip them. I've started calling up my aquantainces and inviting them to do things. Not the usual which is just to go to a bar and drink but more interesting things. On Monday I had people over and we played board games. Tomorrow I'm going to an independent movie theatre with a couple of my friends from high school. This weekend I'm going to play pickleball with some of my classmates.

I'd say about half of the people I invite accept and they always seem to have a great time. I think a lot more people than I realize would like to do things with me, but people in general are bad at/don't want to organize events. Just because you don't get invited to things doesn't necessarily mean you are not liked. Step up and start casually inviting your friends and aquantainces to do cool things!

You shouldn't be enjoying these activities too much, but you should be satisfied at day's end. Don't self-delude. Do it consistently, do it everyday. No fads.
