Foam roller before, during or after workout?
depends, if my legs feel tired or sore before my workout i roll them. otherwise i just roll once in a while during my rest days.
some people will tell you that it's perfect before your workout because it will enhance the performance of the muscle. others will tell you that it is the best tool for muscle regeneration after your work out. you pretty much can do it whenever you want.
Foam rolling is a meme

What is the point of doing it at all? Does it just feel good, or is there actually some benefit?

Got legs tomorrow, going to foam roll it up after my workout, see how my doms go.

well golly gee, I don't see how increased range of motion and full compound muscle activation could be of benefit at all!

Foam rolling doesn't do that you fucking melt
>>38120277
>tight muscle
>can't perform optimal movement pattern
>overcompensate with incorrect muscle groups
>make no gains

i always use it as a squat plug, helps me activate my glutes :^)
and afterwards i roll out with my gymbuddy(nohomo tho)

Retard, how's your first week here
Foam rollers themselves aren't necessarily a bad thing, but almost always are misued.
Somehow, some sort of meme about making it as painful as possible and "hardcore" became a thing, so most people are just wasting their time on a foam roller.
Massage works solely by reducing muscle tone. Any nonsense about destroying "knots" and shit like that is entirely just muscles relaxing and reducing their tone from manipulation. This isn't helped by applying so much pressure that it is painful, because this causes people to contract as a reaction to the pain, and it actually is counterproductive to the original goal of softening the muscles. While sitting in a painful spot with a very firm roller will eventually cause the muscle to relax, this can be much more easily accomplished with a normal foam roller instead of a really hard raperoller.
