I've been doing shrugs with 170kg for 3x10 on wednesday and on the second set at the 7th repetition my lower back started hurting, a stinging pain, but I finished the set and the workout (dips and lateral raises) but didn't do any more shrugs afterwards.
Well next morning I spent three minutes trying to get out of bed and every step hurt.
I went to work and all because I read that besides heat, walking around while not lifting anything will help.
Today is saturday and it basically still stings the same way it did on thursday.

Is this a thing that will heal with time? What is it called?

So a friend of mine is hoping to get back into training this Autumn. He thinks his schedule will be Wed-Sat-Sun, and some weeks (8 weeks in total) might even just be Sat-Sun. Can only lift about 1-1.5h each time as well.

How would you schedule lifting on such a schedule? I was thinking of full body Wed and U/L on Sat/Sun, but what when he can only go Sat/Sun?

A lot of people put their leg back or close to them but I like to put my leg out to the side. I feel a lot more stable and comfortable that way.

I am actually still on rehab from instability caused shoulder injury (impingement?). my supraspinatus has tears in it

it is a sharp and precise pain triggered by specific movements but it does not feel like the supraspinatus. maybe the long head? I don't know...

It's not the end of the road lad, don't worry. It took a month for my tear to get okay, and many months for it to heal completely.

Mine was a major tear, down my trapezius, could squat or deadlift or row. But I got through it well and quickly.

Can confirm mentality is a massive part of Powerlifting, and not just in the sense of needing confidence to complete a lift or do the work, but even in the more immediate case of attempt selection. I've only got two meets under my belt, and I have seen countless lifters fuck themselves by letting their ego choose their opener, or erring way too close to safety.

I've always defined "Talent" as something untrainable, and I guess it is correct to assume that psychology can be 'trained' so to speak; so maybe putting mentality under the talent umbrella is incorrect so-to-speak.
