Also, though it will most likely fall on deaf ears, many people dislike the blueshoes and Loli shitposts. The quality of the general has really decreased lately, let's change that.

Blueshoes we get it you wanna be seen and heard, but your not taken seriously, it's not funny.

Also this isnt /lg/ Loli general, have them as the image but don't have, the entire thread be some Loli roleplay.

So yeah can we get back to the old /owg/ with good questions and answers as well as interesting info.

how heavy do my lifts have to be before I am allowed to start training oly?
>>
>>38068540
you can start training olympic weightlifting movements whenever you want, you dont need a specific strength level to begin

you might be well off doing a strength program along side bar work for a while, prob not a year though that's just silly :^ )

nothing but shit lifts this week lads. Feeling kinda bummed. Couldn't make my targeted snatches today, and missed lots of CnJs yesterday. I'm going on travel for work next week, so I won't be able to do any of the classics.

On a positive note, I hit a 142 kg fs double.

how can I bring up my lagging upper body? I want to get into weightlifting from a background in cycling. I can squat lmao2.5pl8 no problem, but my ohp is like bar+25's. wat do? I also don't want to stop squatting, because cycling will still be my main focus
>>
>>38071372
weightlifting upperbody strength is static strength which means your OHP being small isn't that big of a deal

if you do a normal routine it shouldn't be an issue since it'll more than likely take you longer to learn the lifts properly than it will for your lack of upper body strength to become an issue

to answer your question though:
do more upperbody lifts

gf wants to start doing more olympic and power stuff. ive personally played with the lifts hitting 80/100 at a weight of 73 kg. i know this is nothing special, but i digress.

im starting her off with a simple 3 day a week routine using dumbell and barbell olympic lifts. pls rate, lmk if this is a good start:

monday:
one arm dumbell snatch 4x4
barbell snatch pulls 5x3
front squat 5x3

wednesday:
one arm dumbell clean 4x4
barbell clean pulls 5x3
back squat 5x3

Friday:
practice snatch and cleans with barbell (every week ill take her through a progression, allow her to get 'good' at snatches/cleans form the hips, then knees, then eventually full)
push presses 10x1
pullups 3x10

For snatch and clean and jerk you should do a period of just the bar or drills for technique

and while you are doing that you can do a strength program seperately

What equipment do they use in china, zkc or dhs?

40kg snatch felt heavy
60kg form breakdown
couldn't even OHP 70 for 5
end my life senpaitachi
>>
>>38082073
all kinds
in shandong they had zkc and dhs, as well as a local company taishan
in shanghai they had zkc, but most of the plates are from a local company called china botou
so nothing specific
it's all equipment after all
nat team has a mix of different iwf approved, from eleiko to zkc to dhs to locals
really doesn't matter what you use as long as it's useable
>>
>>38082181

Thanks was asking because im looking for some equipment and with all the volume their discs take, I assume theyll hold up well.

Im looking at dhs, zkc againfaster, getrxd, basically any comp/training bumper plate that will hold up and not demolish my wallet.
thanks again
>>
>>38082409
dhs are nice
apparently the zkc plates aren't that great in the long run but the bars are nice

also don't use the volume to determine the durability of the equipment, if they're a government sponsored team they can just buy new equipment when it breaks

if i were you i'd get a nice bar then a bunch of cheap training plates
>>
>>38082463

I am looking into getting the again faster competition bar, its 20kg, iwf spec, 10 needle bearings, 264k psi. (300usd shipped) ...... Thoughts?
I'd buy eleiko, but $1049.00 for comp and $870 for training. :(

Disc wise I'd like something that'll hold up and is worth while. Steel hub, IWF spec.thoughts?

Reccomendations?thx

LSUS is for advanced lifters like Kendrick who already have a base of both technique and strength. While strength and hypertrophy should be part of your program as a beginner weightlifter, your main focus should be learning the lifts and solidifying technique. Pendlay wrote an article recently which said regardless of your experience level, your program should be about half snatch/clean/jerk/variants, and half strength work.

I train at two gyms, one has eleiko comp and training bars, one has again faster and pendlay

Eleiko comp is obvs the best and shreds your hands. The training bar is really nice.

The pendlay is a nice bar, very mild knurling though that could be good or bad.

Again faster bars are team bars old and some are bent. Don't get me wrong, they're a really tough bar for anything but if you want a dedicated wl bar this isn't it. I'm not sure about the klokov bars I've heard some are good and some are awful.
>>
>>38088545

I liked the pendlay set too. Wasn't a big fan of the Rogue, but that was maybe because it was used by the crossfitters and turned into a piece of shit
>>
>>38088545

Consensus is that againfaster quality is hit or miss.
The eleiko training barbell is $782 shipped

What should programming look like for clean progression?
In high school, our track and field coach had us do 6x2 clean high pulls, 6x2 power clean, and 3x1 full clean but I don't remember the RM percentages we used.

I front squat 280 for a rep or two. What frequency, rep ranges, and weight increases should I do to increase power?
>>
>>38086446

You can only power clean 110kg with a 200kg squat?

Gut gud, son
>>
>>38087879

I have the rogue wl bearing bar. It's a solid bar, especially for the price. It is prone to rust at the center knurl, but I also live in the PNW, train in a poorly insulated garage, and have caustic sweat, so I doubt you'll have the same problem.

Have you checked out American Barbell Company?

Those X plates look really cheaply made, honestly. If you're training at home, or anywhere but at a competition, I don't see any reason to shell out for color and international spec precision. They're just weights. That said, the OFWs are very well made. I've used mine 4-5 days a week for over a year with zero degradation. I just wish they sold then in kgs.

it's probably just an imbalance, happens from tightness or similar usually

work on consciously spreading both at the same time, that's how I fixed mine (as well as making sure you aren't too tight somewhere obviously)
>>
>>38089678
Well I also eat alot and never get big!

Fantastic
>>
>>38090346
hmm, my ankles might be tight, i guess. other than that, not sure what else could be. could help to work on psoas muscles, maybe.

yeah, might have to make a more conscious effort.

Anyone having spinal issues or something? Have this herinated disc shit going on. Is it safe to continue lifting? I only have a babby snatch on 60 kilos but i feel my back getting less flexibel every time i lift
>>
>>38090566

I currently have some sciatic nerve inflammation, gave it 4 weeks but lifted again today and it's clearly not recovered so I have to take it easy again. I would make sure you actually have a herniated disc because that requires surgery
>>
>>38090566
Why would you think it's ok? You're a hobbyist, and not a competitive one at that. Take care of your shit first and obviously find a coach. No, you're obviously not capable of learning on your own.

cannot go wrong with rouge imo as long as its their top stuff, i have the euro bar and training plates massively reccomend, try to maximise your quality on the bar & plates and be creative elsewhere; look for deals on stands/racks
>>

>they are the easily best shoe you can buy and love em
That unsupported instep + lack of metatarsal strap looks like it would be less stable and solid than the basic-bitch plastic-heeled jobs, your thoughts?

>you know there are wwc competitors wearing powerlifts so ultimately it once again isnt really about the equipment
Yeah for sure I'm just queer for gear.

If my current strength days are as follows,
A: Front Squat
B: OHP, DL

I would do ABxABxx and I want to know where I should do cleans/snatch as a beginner?

Or would I be better off pairing ohp with squat and doing classics before deadlifts?
>>
>>38093487
sweet setup

Looking at rogue us wl bar currently $525, the xtraining comp bumpers look to be $602 for 150kg, and the rack im looking at titan t3 w/spotter arms and dip attachment. $355

Thoughts? also what rack is that?

>unsupported instep + lack of metatarsal strap looks like it would be less stable
that is silly, the laces should be able to provide the needed support. look at the track and field shoes, they don't have straps but provide adequate support for the feet.

I personally think straps are only for convenience. it makes the shoes easier to loosen and tighten. it could also prevent the laces from damaging the upper material from frequent tightening, an important factor for less durable materials like synthetic leather and those newfangled breathable fabric.

Straps are a bit of a meme on lifting shoes. 'oh it must be unstable' nah, if you get a properly broken in fitting pair of leather or suede shoes tied tightly that will be more secure than any romaleo or adipower that don't seem to fit anyone perfectly

you know that the lats pulls way back when it contracts right, lat spread isnt done by contracting the lats but actually the serratus

How does he look that built from doing only oly lifts? Do they really work that much of your body that extensively? Does he do assistance work on the side?

>>
>>38098103
>How does he look that built from doing only oly lifts?
No

>Do they really work that much of your body that extensively?
No

>Does he do assistance work on the side?
Yes, but most of the important assistance is done at your first years of training, when you have to build muscle for general conditioning. The better you get, the more it is about the nervous system.
>>
>>38098103
Squats and fronts, paused and regular. Push press, some bench.
>>
How to fix upper back rounding on the front squat?
>>
>>38094097
its an unbranded one from strength shop (uk) my man, it cost me about £300 when i got it on special, rated for 350kg so not flimsy at all, yeah the rouge wl bar is essentially perfect for average wl training but the euro bar really does feel on the same level as a top shelf bar in my experience
>>
>>38093651
oh no the lack of strap actually benefits the shoe in my opinion, seems to give an increased feel in flexibility in the foot but stability in the leg at the same time its actually hard to even describe but they are surprising in that regard
>>
>>38098103
>>38098434
Clarence is also on dat celltech
>>
>>38068540
ten million bench, 250 million squat, pull at least 5 plate

kilo ofc
>>
>>38094179
its fine, just do more squats. Row to make your upper back stronger, and do isometric core work to stay upright. Doesn't look heavy for your legs, but your upper back and/or core (probably both) are collapsing which makes the squat much harder for you.
>>
>>38098272
listen up dummy that is excellent depth you dont need to go any lower than that but of course you would know that if you wood lift
>>
>>38098923
afaik the US and the EU wl bar are the same, apart from tensile strength and the coating options.
>>
>>38098623
really heavy rows helped me my man, pendlay rows i guess, just bent over basically horizontal
>>
>>38099638
thats pretty much it, they machine them both the same way in their factory except they get the steel imported for the Euro bar actually from europe, which has the same 215k strength as eleiko gear, and it only comes in a chrome finish; knurling is perfect for me as i do everything with it not just WL
>>
>>38099693
>>38099693
Pendlay rows kinda blow. Are rack holds any good? I considered doing front sq. with a pause at the back round point but simple is goid haha.
>>
>>38099722
is it very light?
>>
>>38099764
yeah i do them twice a week more so to get accustomed to the feeling of moving with a heavier weight, they will help with keeping straight but you'll have to do them quite a bit to feel them working perhaps as much as every session at the end, but i just said pendlay rows as they're just one example, if you have access to a hammer strength seated row machine that is great, as is just cable rows or even t bar rows, BB exercises can actually help WL in a lot of areas if you know where to put them
>>
>>38099810
no i wouldn't say light there's no slippage at all going on and you can feel the 'teeth' i guess, but it just doesn't bite into your skin so sharply like the comp bars; honestly it feels as if you walked up to it on a platform you would think 'yeah this feels like a comp bar' but in training you dont notice any extensive shredding of your hands; very good balance and as i said perfect training bar imo
>>
>>38098272
he's an injury
>>
>>38099866
thanks
looks like rogue wl bar us (i'd like sharp knurl but Im sure it will be fine)
x training comp bumpers (comes out slightly more expensive than ofw bumpers, but less than rogue)
titan squat rack w/ spotter arms and some oem dip attachment
>>
Will regular pl style deadlifts really fuck me as much as you say if I want to get into WL not so seriously yet?

I mean while its not a clean pull or deadlift, increasing my regular deadlift from 140kg to 200kg must make me stronger in other things too right?
>>
>>38100063
Well ye ofc, but deadlifts are a bit harder to recover from and they don't really help with the positional strength. Heavy clean deadlifts would just be more useful
