Probably a couple factors. He has to run his business, which isn't exactly easy. And he neglects his upper body a lot, compared to his lower body. And the specificity of his training is different. He'll do PL, then strongman, and then take a few months for oly, etc. I'm sure there are even more.

The way I figure it there is about 16 weeks in a semester. Every day I would go to the food hall twice and take around 1.5-2k calories worth of food, so 3k-4k calories for the whole day.

So 2 times a day every week is 14 swipes. 16 weeks times 14 swipes per week adds up to about 224. And I may go home on some weekends so 210 should just be enough AS LONG as I make the most out of each swipe and eat big.

Yeah I was looking through Sheiko about 4 days ago and I noticed how high the volume was. It is not that far off from TM since you work up what is basically VD percents & rep schemes on a lot of days, but there is a lot more low weight + high rep sets included also.

I really like how much volume there is for bench since I feel I respond well to high volume for BP also.

Honestly, I have no idea. I've only finished 2 out of the 12 weeks so far, so ask me again in a month or so. My max squat/DL before were 330/420. You pretty much never go over 85% except for one or two days, but I will say squatting 280 never felt so easy before and all the deadlift work has been laughably easy so far.

I'll be happy if I can hit 350/440 at the end and ridiculously happy if I get 360+/450+.

The Sheiko programs are just generalized templates not necessarily good for everyone.

My standard advice for anyone starting Sheiko is to switch up the deadlifts and just pull regularly and if you feel the need you can switch in let's say paused deads or deficits according to need. Percentages may have to be changed a little(otherwise certain workouts will be too heavy/too light) but reps and sets should remain the same.

Overall though Sheiko-style programming is great for long term, consistent, injury-free progress.

The low rep numbers and moderate weights allow you to lift with perfect form consistently, thus increasing your skill at the lift. And every 2-3 months, you set a new PR, up the weights, and the process begins anew.

For most people I see no reason to ever run another program than Sheiko as long as you put some thought into it.

Well ok, if you are going to lift equipped, and is serious about it doing it Sheiko is not really practical as a tight suit and hard wrapping is not really compatible with the percentages Sheiko programs(if you have tight enough gear, no way in hell you can reach depth with 80 % of your max). And if you up the percentages then your nervous system and body will not last long.

But for raw lifters, Sheiko is the shit.

Not really no. Compared to old-fashioned lift once a week 3x3 yeah sure but if you compare the standard template Sheiko programs out there with for example Norwegian PL programs then the volume is actually not that high. Sure a lot of sets but the reps are so low.

I recommend twice a week for thirty minutes of any cardio of your choice or performing circuit training while lifting to mimic cardio.
You don't need a lot of cardio to feel the positive impacts of it and it takes a lot of cardio to have any negatives.
If you're worried about macros, just eat back the calories burned during cardio.
You can still reap the benefits while it not negatively impacting lifting (other than if you overdue it by say running right before leg day).

I was running C6W before. I think part of the reason my maxes aren't so high is because my form was terrible. I managed to hit 305x4 squat and 380x5 deadlift at the end of my C6W cycle, but on my 1RM day, I got 330 squat and it was an ugly grinder, so I didn't go higher. I got 420 deadlift and it went pretty well, so I tried 440 after then failed. Then after failing that I tried 430 and got really close, but couldn't quite lock it out.

I've been running Nuckols 3x week bench with it. I've been running it for 12 weeks and it took my poverty bench from 160x7 paused to 190x6 paused. Since it had been working pretty well, I didn't want to change it up.

Been a month off with cardio only (for the first time! Running is actually fun who knew). Im gonna be lifting again this coming Monday.

Im so far away from being competitive with PL Im not really concerned with specificity. What I would like to do is increase my General Physical Preparednessâ„¢ with a lot of variety in lifts, as well as put on some meat so whenI do start specializing in another year or two I'll have been stronger for the delay (in a way).

My plan was just 4-6 days a week lifting, 2-3 days running. With the lifting I would do each session Legs, Push, Pull, Accessories and just autoregulation-based weight and whatever rep range I feel like with pic related. And with running I would just follow some novice running program until I can run 30-40 mins straight at a casual pace (my end goal pretty much) and then do that two to three times a week for general health reasons.


Does this sound reasonable and like I would be able to progress provided I tried hard? Anything you might do different? Other general comments?

It's definitely not high-intensity, but it feels more than low-intensity.

I just hate LISS because it takes you 40-60 minutes. Walking on a treadmill is more fun for me and take ~30 mins

It does indeed. I like the idea of auto-regulating and keeping things low-stress.

As the physical stress rises, you might only be able to increase lifting or running at any given time (not both).

My intuition tells me that less days lifting (but kept full body) might be best (from a protein synthesis standpoint, and time management).

Alex Viada is a powerlifter AND endurance athlete, so he has some tips on weekly structure.

HOWEVER, I am wary of some of his claims (some fishy running time claims), so take his advice with a grain of salt.

Yeah I understand that less frequency would probably be optimal, but lifting is by far my favorite hobby and Im much more inclined to do mobility work on a day Ive lifted, so I think it should work out fine.

I understand. Dont really want to be a marathon runner. I just like not feeling like a fat sack of shit whenever Im required to move for more than 20 seconds straight. Like I said, 30-40 minutes 2-3 times a week is the end goal. Enough to get 80-90% of the benefits as far as I can tell.

As long as you're comfortable with going into the gym excited to just do what you can do that day, you'll be golden.

Rooting for you, holmes. I do some form of cardio 6 days per week currently. Getting outside and moving is fun, and it keeps your head clear in a way that the gym can't sometimes.
