How do i increase my squat reps? I developed my skill of doing singles, doubles, and triples. I've been looking at some intermediate programs, and often they call for squatting up to 8 reps a set.
For example 295 lbs for 4 sets of 8. I can usually get my first set finished, but the next few sets i can barely get 3 or 4 reps before i start really losing my breath. Its almost like I can't get enough air into my lungs to support myself and continue through a set. Like i said, i've developed my skill of maxing and performing all out sets with very low reps, but higher reps with moderate weight seems to be a huge challenge for me.
What are some ways I can condition my body for higher rep sets?
The program is candito's linear program for strength btw
just keep trying and you'll get used to it.

should i keep going for the same set that I am failing at, or decrease weight and work up to where im failing at?

lower the weight till you can do 8.
Lower weight till you can do 8.
Once you hit 8, increase weight.
Do that till you hit 8.
Repeat.

obviously decrease.
and since you want conditioning, might as well drop enough to do sets of 20.

Don't do short rest periods unless you can
You're losing tightness as well. Pace yourself; don't try to rip off 3-4 reps just because you think you can. Treat it like a 20 rep set and take a couple breaths between reps
The answer you didn't give is your max. Regardless of weight and what you can do, I like plugging in 90-95% of my max and hitting something with a bit more power rather than wipe myself out on the first set.
Or you could just drop some DMAA and breeze through it

Thanks for the tips guys. I did plug my numbers into the program i am using, and just trying to follow the workout. The problem is i've been squatting with singles, doubles, and triples for so long now its hard to do sets of 6 or more reps since my body is simply not used to those extended sets. I'll drop the weight to 225 and do some sets of 8-10 and build up conditioning

HIIT will help for sure. I use strongman movements to help with work capacity. KB swings, goblet and zercher squats are all good assistance movements that will help with work capacity more so than raw strength.
